It's been a year since I last saw him.
I can't express how fucking ecstatic I'm to meet him.
To confess my love for him.
I smiled and picked up the bracelet he gave me on my 15th birthday.
I haven't removed it since then, only when I take a bath, because I don't want to ruin it.
The other half of the bracelet is with him. It's a yin-yang pendant, which he attached to the bracelet.
One part of the pendant is on my bracelet, while the other half is on his bracelet.
This was just our thing.
We promised each other that no matter what, under any circumstance, we wouldn't lose it. This bracelet represents our friendship, and I wouldn't exchange it for the world.
I quickly changed and ran downstairs.
"Maa, I'm going to Sidd's!"
"Okay! How many times do I have to tell you not to run on stairs?"
"Sorry!"
I yelled and ran out of the house.
I was so damn excited but nervous.
There are so many questions running through my mind.
What if he found the one while we were apart?
What if he hates me now?
What if she tells him to stop talking to me? Will he do that?
Will he choose his relationship over our friendship.
There are so many "what ifs," and he's the only one who can answer them.
Siddharth's house is practically my second house.
We both were either here or at my house.
His family is my family, and my family is his family.
We call each other's parents Mumma and Papa.
Rather than my mother, I'd run to his mother if I ever had any problems.
The same goes for him.
Our dads being best friends was just the cherry on top.
Without knocking on the door, I headed in.
"Mum! Where are you?"
"In the kitchen, Kiara!"
I jumped into the kitchen, open the lid of the pan, and inhale the delicious, mouth-watering smell.
Mumma slapped my hands off when I tried to taste it.
"When will you grow up? You are 25 now! Grow up!"
She scolded me, while I just chuckled.
I wrapped my arms around my second mother and kissed her cheeks.
"If I'll grow up, then who's going to eat your head until you grow old?"
I raise my brow with an amusing smile decorating my face.
"Right. Anyway, how are you feeling? He'll be home any time now." she said enthusiastically.
My face fell a little at his mention.
I reluctantly removed my hands from mom's torso and began to fiddle with my finger.
"I do-don't know. What if he doesn't love me? I'm scared. I'm scared that he might have found someone better and will forget about me." I sighed.
"It'll be alright. And if he doesn't like you, it's his loss. Because you, my baby, are the best in the whole world!"
She stretched out her hand, explaining her line.
I laughed at my second mother's childish behaviour.
She always seems to know how to make me laugh and be happy.
She knows about my love for Siddharth.
When I first told her, she freaked out.
She was ecstatic, and she scolded me for not telling him.
"Thanks! Now, please, let's taste the food. I'm starving!"
I gave her the best puppy eyes I could muster.
Just as she opened her mouth to scold me again, the doorbell rang, and my heart came to a halt.
Somehow, my heart figured out that it was him.
He's here.
