THIRD PERSON POV :-
"I'm sorry, mom." Siddharth rested his head on his mother's lap and sniffled.
Everything was sorted out between the mother-son duo.
"It's okay, Siddarth. I was being immature earlier. I must know that you've got every right to choose your life partner. I'll give Amelia a chance. I will help her face your father's side of the family. You know how they are." Mrs. Singh laughed while caressing his hair. Siddharth chuckled. It's always the father's side of the family that is evil.
Sitting up on the bed, Siddharth fixed his hair. "Mumma, you will help Amelia, right? I love her, mom." Siddharth pleaded. Mrs. Singh could see the vulnerability and love in his eyes.
She knew he loved Amelia, but she was feeling bad for Kiara. Even though she was ready to give Amelia a chance, she still wanted Kiara to be her daughter-in-law. That's what she's always wanted.
She was feeling guilty for encouraging Kiara's love for her son because she thought he was in love with her and would confess his love to Kiara after coming back. But destiny rolled its dice and changed everything.
"Go and rest. You must be tired, and Amelia must be waiting for you too." Mrs. Singh caressed his cheeks and began to arrange the pillow on her bed.
"Okay mumma. Good night. I love you." Siddharth pecked Mrs. Singh's cheek and got off the bed. Mrs. Singh smiled softly at him and muttered a soft, "Good night, beta."
Siddarth was feeling content and at peace now. Now that his mom was by his side, he was satisfied and ecstatic about his marriage to Amelia.
"Mumma?" Before stepping out, he spun around and called out to thank his mother for understanding him.
"Hmm?" Mrs. Singh raised the head of the pillow and stared at him, urging him to continue.
"Thank you." Mrs. Singh chuckled and shook her head.
"Don't thank me. Thank Kiara. It's because of her. She made me understand that it's your choice to make, not mine." She said it delicately, with a sense of relief.
She was relieved that she wasn't standing in the way of her son's happiness anymore. Relief because before time made her understand, she understood the lesson.
Siddharth felt a pang of pain in his heart as he reminisced about the morning event—the hurt in Kiara's eye, the scratch on her wrist due to the bracelet, the words she uttered in anger, the hurtful words he said to her.
Despite everything he said to her, she still helped him. She still convinced Mrs. Singh to marry him. If it weren't for her, maybe Mrs. Singh would've been determined to make Kiara her daughter-in-law.
He must thank her. He will. He needs to talk to her.
"Maa, do you have Kiara's number?" Mrs. Singh nodded and handed her phone to Siddharth.
"Here. Plug it on charge when you're done." Mrs. Singh muttered and draped the blanket on her body. She was sighing as she got comfortable in her bed.
Siddarth turned on the phone. The brightness chimmed in his eyes, and he shut them as the sharp brightness stabbed in his eyes.
Typical mother's phone.
Siddarth slowly opened his left eyes and lowered the brightness of the phone first. Once done, he closed all the background apps and then finally opened the contact list.
He scrolled down to the letter K. Her name was the first one to pop up. He clicked on her name and copied her number to the clipboard. He sent the number to himself via WhatsApp, closed the app, and plugged her phone on charge, which was still at 78% charge.
