“Doctor is she okay?” Nathan approached the doctor and looked at him desperately, waiting for his answer. The doctor briefly shook his head and sighed.
Nathan took a sigh of relief and smiled a little.
“Thank God, she's okay!” Tears welled up in his eyes as he thanked his god for saving the love of his life.“Sir, let me complete first.” The doctor interrupted, causing tension in the air once again.
“Ye-yea.” Nathan's voice cracked as he prepared himself for the worst.
“We indeed managed to save her but she is no more than a living corpse. She's in a coma and might never wake up. We wanted to ask you if you want to keep her on life support or want to cut it off?” The doctor explained.
Mrs. Mehra who was standing behind the doctor felt the floor beneath her feet just vanished.
What was the doctor even talking about? Her daughter was fit and alive just a few hours ago. How could he say that she is no more than a living corpse? How can he be so insensitive?
“Aee what do you mean she's a living corpse huh? How can you say that?” Mrs. Mehra lost her cool and grabbed the doctor's collar.
“Ma'am. Calm down.” Mrs. Mehra wasn't ready to listen to anything though.
“Maa, Maa.” Siddharth grabbed her hand and pulled her apart from the doctor.
“Sidd, how can he say my Kiara is nothing more than a living corpse huh?” Mrs. Mehra cried in Siddharth's arms. Siddharth tightly embraced her in his warm arms and caressed her back, soothing her sobs.
“Take care of her. I'll talk to the doctor.” Mrs. Singh told Siddharth and walked away with the doctor towards his cabin. Nathan followed behind them while Amelia chose to stay back and take care of Mrs. Mehra.

“How's her condition doctor?” Mrs. Singh asked as she took the seat and Nathan sat down beside her.
His heart was pounding in his chest. Ha was preparing himself for whatever the doctor was about to tell them about her condition.
The doctor removed his spectacles and sighed as he rested his hands on the table and stared at them silently.
“She's in a state of deep coma and might never wake up, do you still want to keep her on life support?.” The doctor said and stared at them.
“Of course we want to try as long as there is slightest chance that she might wake up. But what caused the coma?” Nathan questioned.
“It can be because of a stroke or trauma. There is swelling in her brain and she lost a lot of blood due to the accident. Due to the swelling, the blood couldn't flow in a major part of her brain.”
“But doctor she will wake up right?” Mrs. Singh asked with a hope that maybe he will say yes.
“Maybe she will..or maybe she will not. The chances are very slight. We can't say anything. She also had a heart attack. Her left ventricle, which is the main pumping chamber of the heart, is weakened. It is called as Takotsuba Cardiomyopathy or broken heart syndrome. Which is caused by emotional or physical stress.”
As Nathan silently listened to the doctor, his heart began to dawn in guilt. He began to blame himself for everything that happened.
Because believe it or not, him and Amelia were the reason her heart broke again and maybe that is why she suffered from cardiac arrest.
Her condition was screaming that everything she's suffering through is because of what she heard and misunderstood.
Now Nathan could only hope and pray for her to wake up so that he can clear everything out and propose her for marriage.
“Was she under any stress? Relationships or any other emotional stress or something?” The doctor questioned and Nathan stared at him with teary eyes. It was paining in his chest, he was having a hard time trying to breathe.
“Maybe.” Mrs. Singh whispered.
Nathan snapped his face in her direction as he stared at her face with wide eyes.
Does she know? He wondered and stared at her, his heart started pounding in his chest as sweat began to drop off his forehead.
“Siddarth.” She said and stared at the doctor.
“What do you mean ma'am?” The doctor asked and Nathan looked at her baffled.
What does he have to do with anything related to her mental health?
“My son. Kiara is in love with him but he loves someone else and she was pretty upset about it.” Mrs. Singh explained and never before has Nathan found it so hard to keep quiet.
Because he knew, Siddharth wasn't at fault. It was all because of Nathan and Amelia.
“Maybe it was that. We will do everything we can from our side. Don't lose your hope.” The doctor assured them and got up from his chair to bid them.
Mrs. Singh and Nathan both stood up from their seats and stepped outside of the cabin.
“Aunty, I want to tell you something.” Nathan whispered and stopped Mrs. Singh on her way.

“Maa, please don't cry. Kiara wouldn't want to see you crying because of her.” Amelia cooed her and wiped her tears whilst her own tears blemished her skin.
“How Amelia? Didn't you hear what the doctor said? She might not wake up ever-” her voice cracked as she expressed her misery.
“She will wake up, maa. Our Kiara is very strong and she will not leave us. Don't lose hope.”
“I hope so.” Mrs. Mehra whispered, prayed to her God for her daughter's safety and life.
“Maa, Papa and Mr. Mehra are coming. I've informed them.” Mrs. Mehra just nodded her head and sat silently with her hands joined.

“Why didn't you tell us before Nathan?”
“Amelia didn't wanted me too. That's why we met today and we were going talking about it. About our past. But Kiara overheard us and she misunderstood everything. She was maniacally walking on the road, i tried to stop her but she didn't listen to me and out of nowhere a car hit her.”
Mrs. Singh wiped his tears and caressed his back as he sobbed hard.
“It's okay. She'll be okay. You love her don't you? Keep faith in your love. It won't let anything happen to her.” He nodded his head and sniffled.
“How do I tell this to maa?” He questioned and looked at Mrs. Singh with worried eyes.
“I'll take care of that but for now, don't tell her anything. Her condition very bad right now. We can't tell her now.” Nathan just shook his head. He didn't know what to do.
Mrs. Mehra would probably despise him for this. He will not only lose the love of his life but also his mother figure. He don't wanna lose them. In this whole new country, Mrs. Mehra and Kiara is his family.
“Aunty, do you think maa will despise me for this?” Nathan questioned worriedly.
Mrs. Singh sighed and smiled a little at him. He was too scared to lose them.
“She loves you too much to hate you, my son.” She caressed his cheeks and kissed it.
