Jody's POV
"How can you be so cool about it?" Cassie asked me while she walked up and down in my kitchen.
"It's a song about her fight against breast cancer! It's not one of those 'I want you back'-songs. There's a difference" I explained and crossed my arms. It was Saturday, I had a day off just like Vic and Cassie so Cassie decided to come over and I told her about this song Vic wrote about his ex. She took it differently than I did.
"But still! It's about his fucking ex!"
"I think totally different about this. I think about all the people this song could help and it may also help his ex."
"You know what? He knows everything about her fight and everything, so they still have to be in contact. Do you still have contact with your ex?"
"No, I don't but-"
"It's just not normal! I'm sorry, but it's not normal." I thought about her words. Was she right? Vic has to be in contact with her to know about the fighting against cancer and everything. I shouldn't be jealous or anything about that, but I was.
"Let's not talk about that, okay? Vic is coming over any moment and I don't wanna look upset when he's here."
"Yes, of course. I'm sorry if I made you upset about it." Cassie walked over to me and hugged me.
"It's just my opinion and you have your own, okay?" she added. I nodded and smiled at her.
"Good." She released me from her grip and walked in the living room. I stayed in the kitchen and was about to do the dishes when I heard a knock on the door.
"Cassie, could you-"
"Yeah, no problem" she said and walked to the door. The door opened and a male voice filled the room.
"Uh hi?"
"Oh wow! He's hot, damn!" Cassie said to him and to me.
"Who are- oh! You're that girl I carried upstairs some months ago!" his voice lit more up with every word he said and realized that it was Cassie.
"Woah, you remember me! I'm Cassie by the way."
"I'm Vic." They shook hands and I smiled at them. They already seemed to like each other.
"Jo is over there in the kitchen." Cassie had a new habit of calling me 'Jo'. She says it's cooler than 'Jody' and you don't have to say so many letters. Vic entered the house and smiled at me. He wrapped his arm around my waist, pulled me closer and kissed me.
"Okay, well...I'll go now" Cassie said, sightly uncomfortable of seeing us (don't ask me why) and nodded towards the door.
"Sure, see you on Monday?" I asked and turned to the side to look at her.
"Yes, sure! See ya around. And it was nice to meet you, Vic." She waved and then left the house.
"She's nice" he said when the door closed.
"Haha! I think that'll change as soon as you get to know her more" I joked. He laughed and I escaped from his grip to finish the dishes. Vic started to help me, so just after some minutes we were finished.
We walked out to the porch in the back and sat down on a bench. Vic quickly walked to his car to get his guitar he brought along. When I sat down on the bench, I felt the letter I put in my pocket. Immediately all of the feelings came back and I somehow wanted to read it again. But I couldn't right then, because Vic was next to me, though focused on his guitar but still, he didn't knew about it. Then I started to feel guilty. I knew everything about Vic but he didn't about me. That's not how a relationship works! What am I doing?! Suddenly I felt Vic's eyes on me, studying me. He seemed to notice that I was totally lost in my thoughts. His eyes stopped on my wrists.
