Vic's POV
"Vic you're really sure about this?" Mike asked me for maybe the 100th time.
"Yes, I think I am" I confirmed and smiled.
"That's a big step" Jaime said and I nodded.
"I know but I think we're ready." I have the feeling that this is really right. My head and my heart tell me that it's the right thing to do.
later that day...
"Fuck, we're too late!" Jody yelled while running through the whole house and searching her things and making herself ready.
"If you wouldn't have took so long in the shower, then we wouldn't be too late" I mumbled but she heard it because she hit my shoulder when she walked past me. She took her bag and looked around for the last time.
"Okay, I think I'm ready now" she said and smiled at me. I stood up from the couch and got my car keys. We got in my car and I drove out the drive way. We were going to meet Kevin Brown. Jody had some more contact with him to clear some more things and he mentioned that she should bring me along, too. So here I am.
I could tell that Jody was really nervous about this whole thing. Of course she was, I mean who wouldn't be. She was about to meet her real Dad. Okay, it's still not 100% sure that he really is her real father but probability is really high.
"It'll be okay. I bet he's nice and I'm sure that he'll like you" I said and put one hand on her hand. She smiled at me but still looked worried. She should stop thinking so much.
"Hey, don't worry, everything will be fine. If he turns out to be an asshole we're faster out there than he can say guacamole" I told and she laughed.
"Everything will be okay" she repeat slowly like she was telling it to herself.
After a couple minutes, we stood in front of Kevin's huge house.
"Now there's no turning back" Jody whispered and rang the door bell. I enlaced our fingers and looked at her in the corner of my eyes. The door opened and this guy we saw on his blog stood in front of us.
"Hello, you must be Jody" he immediately turned to Jody. She smiled at nodded.
"Yes, I am" she added when Kevin hugged her. Jody was sightly a bit surprised that he hugged her but I think it made her relax at the same time.
"And you must be Vic" he turned to me and shook my hand.
"Yes" I answered and smiled at him. Well, the first impression wasn't bad.
"Please come in" Kevin said to us and stepped aside so we could enter his house. You could really see that he's a successful bank-guy because 1) his house is HUGE and 2) the inside was so clean and well decorated. Jody couldn't hide that she was impressed because her jaw almost dropped.
We followed Kevin in his living room and sat down on the couch which faced the couch he was sitting on.
"My wife is in the city with our children and they're coming later today" he informed us. We nodded and awkwardly looked around a bit.
"I know, this situation is really uncomfortable and unusual but I try to make the best out of it" he explained.
"Yes, I really don't know how...to handle all of this. It's really weird, you know" Jody agreed and looked down at her hands.
"Let's just start at the very beginning. Tell me everything from the start and I'll tell you everything from the start. I think it's important that we first get to know each other" he suggested. Jody nodded and started telling him everything about her life from the beginning. She didn't miss a spot, she even told him about the dark times with Sam and her suicide attempt. When she finished and arrived in the present, Kevin breathed out heavily.
