"Hey, Kevin, I just wanted to say goodbye," I said as I entered his office. He was engrossed in reading something but looked up when I spoke.
"Drive safely," he replied with a smile. I nodded and glanced around his office.
"C-can I stay for a bit?" I asked tentatively, my gaze wandering.
"Sure. Make yourself at home," he offered warmly. I began to roam around, eventually stopping at a sofa where plush toys were displayed. It was the complete set of the Jun's Plush toy line, designed by Jun himself. I picked up one of them; a colorful Penguin. Memories flooded back as I held it in my hands.
I remembered the day Jun shared his ambitious plan with me. It was etched vividly in my mind - his excitement, his gestures, the sound of his laughter. He had laid out his vision before the design team with such enthusiasm, welcoming suggestions to refine his ideas. He had chosen six animals for his plush toys: the monkey, the cheetah, the Emperor Penguin, the Polar Bear, the Siberian Tiger and the elephant.
Those moments with Jun felt so alive, as if they had just happened yesterday.
One fine morning, I woke up to find Jun absent from our bed. Concerned, I hurried to the kitchen where I discovered him preparing breakfast.
"Good morning, babe," I greeted, wrapping my arms around him from behind and planting a kiss on the back of his neck.
"Good morning," he beamed, his warmth comforting.
"What are you up to?" I inquired, curious about his early morning activities.
"Just making some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches," he replied, spreading peanut butter and strawberry jam onto slices of bread.
"Your favorite," I remarked with a smile, knowing how much he loved them.
"What do you mean 'your favorite'?" he teased, assembling the sandwich. "Don't you love them too?"
"Of course, I do," I assured him. "But not quite as much as you do."
"Well, there are a few things I love more than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches," he mused.
"Like me?" I interjected playfully.
"Like the sky, the birds, and, of course, food," he replied with a grin.
"Wait, what?!" I protested. "Where do I fit into your list?"
"Well..." he trailed off, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Well, what?!" I pressed, growing impatient.
"Look at you, being the dominant alpha you are," he teased, wrapping his arms around my neck. "The pride and joy of the Straits."
"Oh, stop teasing," I grumbled, pouting slightly. Jun turned to face me, his arms still around me. I gazed into his eyes, feeling as though I could get lost in their depths, like staring into the vastness of space.
"Do you honestly believe there could be anything more lovable than you, Caelus?" he questioned softly. "To me, you're everything."
His words warmed my heart, and I couldn't help but smile. Pulling him closer, I leaned in for a kiss. In that moment, it felt as though time stood still. I could hear the thumping of my own heart as our lips met, soft and tender. I stole a glance at him, admiring even the glittering perfection of his lashes. Eventually, he gently pulled away, both of us breathless.
"Why did you stop?" I asked, longing for more of his touch. Watching him catch his breath only made me want him more.
"Don't you think it's too early for this?" he asked, a playful smirk on his lips.
