Alon's PoV

I woke up feeling utterly exhausted, my memory a foggy mess. The last thing I could recall was being in the club with Caelus. I remembered seeing two omegas slip something into our drinks, and then I remember drinking them for Caelus's sake. I had assumed whatever they added to his drink wouldn't affect me, but clearly, I was wrong. As I stirred, I noticed someone lying next to me. It was Caelus, sound asleep on the sofa. We were both in what looked like a hospital room.

Why was I on the sofa instead of the hospital bed? I glanced at Caelus again, noticing his shirt unbuttoned and his belt undone. Why did he look so disheveled in this place? I got up and headed to the window, pulling back the blinds to reveal the morning sun. I wondered what time it was. I needed to get home to my son. Spotting my clothes neatly folded nearby along with the phone Caelus had given me, I checked the time—it was already eleven in the morning. I needed to leave; so, I quickly changed in the bathroom.

When I emerged, Caelus was awake, sitting on the sofa. He still looked a bit rough around the edges. I couldn't help but wonder why.

"You're awake," he remarked as soon as he saw me.

"Yeah," I replied. "What happened?"

"You had a drug overdose and alcohol poisoning," he explained. "How are you feeling?"

"I feel alright," I replied. "But I need to go home."

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yes, I want to go home. Being here is making me feel worse. Anyway, what happened to you?" I inquired, noticing his disheveled appearance.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

I gestured to his clothes. "Why do you look like that?"

"Oh," he mumbled, quickly fixing his attire. "Do you remember anything from last night?"

"Not really. I remember being in the club, seeing those omegas put something in our drinks, and then I passed out after drinking," I recalled.

"Is that all?"

"Yeah," I confirmed. "Why? Is there something else I should remember?"

"No, nothing," he replied. "So, you're saying this is the first time you've woken up since passing out?"

"What?" I was confused by his question. "Of course. Why do you ask?"

"It's just strange," he said. "If you're feeling okay, let's head home."

"Agreed," I nodded, feeling an unexpected urge to hug him, so I did. "Um, Loony. What are you doing?" Caelus asked, sounding puzzled.

"I don't know," I admitted. "I just want to hug you. It makes me feel better." I smiled at him. "Caelus, you smell nice."

"Oh no, not again," he muttered softly, but I heard him.

"Not again, what?" I pressed.

"Never mind," he sighed, and I rested my head against his chest. "Loony."

"Hmm?"

"Why did you drink the drinks for me? Weren't you afraid they might poison you?"

"No," I answered. "I'm here now, right?" I looked up at him. "And I trust you. You've been so kind to me."

"You shouldn't have done that, but thank you," he said sincerely.

Caelus's Point of View

Loony and I mated for what felt like hours, the effects of the sex drug on him making him insatiable. I struggled to keep up with his desires, and we ended up making love on the sofa until the trance-like state he was in wore off, and he fell asleep in my arms. As I held him, I couldn't help but ponder over what had just transpired.

I couldn't believe the intensity of my feelings. Falling in love with him was not part of the plan, or was it? I marked him, yet another mistake, further complicating the situation.

Questions swirled in my mind. Why did he do it? Was he trying to atone for his past actions? But was risking his life worth it just to seem innocent to me? I was utterly lost. Part of me wanted to believe he had nothing to do with Carl, yet he was my only hope of salvaging SkyHaven Toys. If I didn't act, the company would surely crumble soon. This had to end, and soon.

But then, a thought struck me. Maybe marking Loony wasn't such a bad idea after all. It would make him reliant on my presence, build trust between us, and perhaps, just perhaps, he would confide in me. I just needed to give him a little more time.

Reflecting on it, I realized Loony shared similarities with Jun. They were both warm-hearted and enjoyed similar things. Maybe that was why I was drawn to him. But Loony was different, like a breath of fresh air, teaching me things I never knew, especially when it came to matters of finances, art, and food.

I couldn't believe I was actually considering forgiving him and giving us a chance. No, I must be exhausted from all these thoughts. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

I blinked awake, quickly scanning the room, but Loony was nowhere to be found. The events of a few hours ago left me tired and uneasy. I was startled when the restroom door swung open, revealing Alon already changed. Relief washed over me knowing he was okay, and even more so when he showed no memory of what happened earlier.

"Can I go home now?" he asked as he approached me.

"If you're feeling okay, then let's go," I agreed, running my fingers through my hair. His sudden hug caught me off guard. "Uhm, Loony. What are you doing?"

"I don't know," he replied. "I just want to hug you. It makes me feel better." He smiled. "Caelus, you smell nice."

"Oh, not again," I mumbled softly in desperation.

"Not again what?" he asked.

"Oh, never mind," I replied, just relieved he was okay. I felt him rest his face against my chest, a strange sense of comfort washing over me. "Loony."

"Hmm?"

"Why did you take the drinks for me? Weren't you afraid they might be poisoned?" I asked.

"No," he replied. "I'm alive now, right?" He glanced at me. "And I trust you. You've been very nice and kind to me."

There was warmth in his eyes that I couldn't ignore. "You shouldn't have done that, but thank you." I hugged him back, feeling conflicted. Why did it feel nice? I should still despise him for what he did, but why did it seem like he was trying to build me up now?

"Loony," I called his name once again. "Do you still remember the promise I asked you to make?"

"The one about being honest with you?" he asked.

"Exactly," I confirmed. "You need to trust me, okay? You have to tell me everything. Every secret you have. Not right now, but whenever you feel ready to open up, just come to me, and I'll listen. I'll accept all your truths, no matter what."

This time, I was serious about what I was saying. It felt strange, perhaps unlike me, but I was willing to make exceptions.

It was a bitter realization to swallow, but I couldn't deny it any longer—I was falling for him like a shooting star, faster than I could resist.

"I will," he replied. "Now, can we go home?"

I smiled and nodded. "Hold on."

"Why?" he asked.

I cupped his face and kissed him, needing to validate my feelings. I had been so consumed by thoughts of revenge that I hadn't realized I was actually falling for him.

"What's that for?" he asked.

"I don't know. I just wanted to kiss you," I teased. "So, can I drive you home now?"

"Yeah," he finally agreed. "But where I live isn't exactly the most glamorous place. It's like the armpit of the city."

"I'm fine with it," I said. I had already been there once, so I knew what to expect.

After settling all the hospital bills, I guided him to my car, and once we were both inside, I started driving him home.
