🎼

I'm about to ride through the old 'hood right now

Got too much pride for my own good right now

Waitin' on you to give in and hit me up

So I could fall through like old times and hit it up

I'm terrible at inviting myself, call me over

Those nights when you need someone else call me over

You can be the one to take control call me over

When I get there, you already know, call me

Why you keep askin' me about her?

Couple of other things I'd rather do than talk about that right now

Told you about giving him chances on chances on chances

He's not holding you down, he's holding you back right now

It is Saturday morning, and I still feel down after receiving a nasty message from Lesedi. I leave Khaya's house to attend my friend's funeral. On my way, I call Roche and tell her what happened with Lesedi, and she listens to my vents. She makes me realise that I regret not going to the funeral because I was close to the whole family, not just Lesedi. Wise woman that Roche of mine. She also told me I am not obliged to plead for a truce or to go out of my way to show up for Lesedi; however, I should attend the funeral for her mother's sake. I then decide I will only show up the Friday before the funeral because I know she will need my help with spiritually prepping the home for the funeral. Her mother had been there for our journey so I owed her that much.

After the funeral, we gather as old friends and catch up the whole afternoon. I am too drunk to drive to Khaya's, so I slept at my mom's house after promising to join Khaya for lunch tomorrow.

Khaya's lunch invite included hanging out, getting our cars washed and catching up on TV series. It turns out that part of the plan was to meet his friend Themba. I am taken aback by this gesture. According to Khaya, we had to meet because we are the two people he hangs out with a lot lately and the two people he confides in. Yet, it still caught me by surprise when Themba decided to confront me while Khaya went to exchange his car for mine at the car wash.

Themba: "So what are you and Khaya actually?"

Me: "What did he tell you?"

Themba: "That is not the question I asked you."

Me: "We are good friends."

Themba: "Good friends nneh? That sleep together?"

Me: "Yeah, something like that."

Themba: "Good friends that sleep together and almost had a baby together?"

Me: "He told you?"

Themba: "Yes, he did, but I don't understand why you guys are lying to each other?"

Me: "Why would you say we are lying? We are friends."

Themba: "Yet you are in love with him, or am I lying?"

Me: "Well, that doesn't matter, does it?"

Themba: "It does. Why don't you tell him how you feel?"

Me: "Can you drop the subject? We are fine as we are."

Themba: "Whatever you say, but I don't understand these games you are both playing. I think he loves you too. He told me he was willing to step up if you had been really pregnant. I can see that you love him. Mara, it's none of my business. So qhubekani nale nto yenu but I don't get it mina ke and kimi ungumfazi womngani wami and it ends there."
