. . .
Wise men say
Only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
. . .I flung the magazine onto the table, frustration bubbling over. “Bloody hell, Octavio! What fucking makeup are you applying that's taking an eternity?” My voice echoed through the room.
Everyone has been taunting me to be ready on time, since yesterday. They all expected me to be the one who would get all of us late.
Being on the receiving end of a lecture about the paramount importance of punctuality is one thing, but experiencing the twist of fate where the very person delivering that lecture ends up striding in late, a full hour after the agreed-upon time, is very frustrating.
The one who would continuously point me out was none other than Octavio. He was so sure that I was gonna get late. However, I was the one who got ready on time and he got us all late.
“Please, my child has sensitive ears! Don't fucking yell,” Ace's voice erupted from the first floor, annoyance evident.
“Who do you think you are speaking to her like that? Do you want your child's first words to be filled with such language and grow up without a father?” Zayn's tone grew heated.
For a moment, everything around me faded away as I looked at Zayn. I had seen him in a tuxedo many times before, but this time, he was the epitome of handsome elegance. His sleek black tuxedo highlighted his broad shoulders and slim waist, while his perfectly coiffed dark hair, chiseled jawline, and piercing dark brown eyes made him utterly captivating. His confident demeanor only added to his irresistible allure, making it impossible to look away.
“And you're her lawyer now?” Ace shot back, his anger barely contained. Pulling me back to my senses “Is this your new profession?”
“Yes, it is. Any problem?” Zayn retorted sharply.
“You backstabbing fucker”Ace's words trailed off into a curse.
“Enough with the foul language,” I interjected firmly.
“You started it first!” Ace retorted before striding away, leaving the tension lingering in the air. He's right though.
The anticipation of arriving early to catch every moment of the celebration had turned into a somewhat bemusing situation.
“Ice cream?” Levi offered, a knowing glint in his eyes that hinted at his awareness of my frustration. I let out a sigh, a mix of exasperation and gratitude, as I accepted the ice cream. He knows me well, unlike he love interest.
“Chill,” Levi said, accompanied by a chuckle. “He always lectures others but he is the one who always gets late.”
“You look nice though,” Levi added, his tone genuine and lighthearted.
“You too, man, you too,” I replied, the weight of my irritation gradually lifting.
“Why so quiet, Hunter?” I inquired, noticing his discomfort near the stairs. Silence wasn't typical of him.
He fidgeted for a moment, avoiding eye contact. “It's nothing, really,” Hunter muttered, his unease palpable as he edged away and made a swift exit.
The lingering silence was broken by Levi's unexpected revelation. “I've never been to a wedding,” he confessed, a tinge of curiosity coloring his tone.
“Is it because of Zayn?” I probed, astonished at the possibility.
Levi's solemn nod confirmed my suspicions. My gaze shifted to Zayn, a mix of disbelief and inquiry in my expression. “Seriously?” I directed the question squarely at him.
