“Poisoning a drink, bleeding in a sink
Choking with a link, killing with a stink”
The dining room was a sea of laughter and celebration. The tension that had gripped us for almost a month had finally lifted. We had caught James, Roman’s crony, the one responsible for sending those godforsaken gifts and letters. And, more importantly, we had defeated Roman.Tonight, we celebrated our victory.
I looked around the room, seeing my brothers-in-arms enjoying the moment. Ace, Levi, Octavio, and Hunter and our little Andrew were here, along with a few of our most trusted men. Skylar was resting at Hunter’s place, recovering from everything that had happened. And then there was Nyx, the woman who had been through hell because of us, yet stood by our side with unwavering loyalty.
Nyx was radiant tonight, her laughter mingling with the others, her eyes sparkling with the joy of the moment. She had become a part of our family, a sister to Levi, a confidante to Ace, and a source of endless bickering with Octavio. For me, she was everything.
I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Cliche but yes. Her presence was intoxicating, her beauty mesmerizing. Her lips tasted like sin, and I loved committing it again and again. Her body, perfectly sculpted, drove me wild with desire. But it was her soul, her strength, and her resilience that truly captivated me. She had been through so much, yet she remained kind and compassionate.
She was not a beacon of light in my dark world, she was my comfort place in our dark world. My entire life I've been trapped in this world so I knew having a light was just a temporary escape. I tried endless ways to get out from this darkness but there was no escape because I had become one. But now I've found my comfort place here. After so many years I could breathe.
"Brother, you’re staring," Ace teased, nudging me with his elbow, holding Andrew in his arms. His grin was wide, mischievous.
I smirked, shaking my head. "Shut up, Ace. Can’t a man admire the woman he loves?"
I said it. I admitted it.
Ace’s eyes widened, and then he laughed, clapping me on the back. "About damn time you admitted it. Everyone knows you’re head over heels for her."
"Everyone except her," I muttered, my gaze drifting back to Nyx. I knew everyone was aware because why not? Everything was way too obvious. Tonight, I will change that. Tonight, I would tell her how I felt.
Octavio and Nyx were in the middle of one of their usual spats. “You can’t be serious, Octavio,” Nyx exclaimed, pointing her fork at him. “Pineapple does not belong on pizza!”
Octavio threw his hands up in mock exasperation. “You have no taste, dumbo. Pineapple is the future of pizza.”
Nyx gasped “Oh no nerd, I have taste, it's you who can eat any weird things”
Their bickering was a constant source of amusement. Despite their arguments, there was a bond between them, one forged through shared hardship and mutual respect.
Levi, sitting next to Nyx, chuckled. “You two sound like an old married couple.”
“Spare me that insult, that's the worst thing one could ever say to me” Octavio dramatically sighed, taking a bite of his lasagna. Everyone laughed, shaking their heads.
Nyx rolled her eyes, ruffling Levi’s hair. She had become like an older sister to him, someone he looked up to and confided in. Her presence had brought a new dynamic to our group, one that we all cherished.
