Chapter seventeen

For the next week, Caroline and Liz had gotten Davina ready for everything that Mystic Falls had to offer.

Caroline had deemed herself Davina's tutor and fitness trainer, which the brunette was grateful for. It meant that there were early morning workouts, in which the vampire tested the witch's knowledge of what she had learnt during their study sessions.

Davina was a great listener and was very eager to learn what she could. It fascinated her just how well Caroline could multitask and make all the subjects make much more sense. The cheerleader made their study sessions a lot of fun and didn't make her feel overwhelmed with everything that she had to absorb before they had school on Monday.

As for the blonde, she was beyond happy that she had someone who actually wanted to learn from her, instead of complaining about her study habits and wanting way too many breaks. She swore that all of her friends were procrastinator's, they'd just wait until the night before and have a study date without her. Thought they didn't know that she knew, but she wasn't going to let that get to her much. It was on them if they fail a test because they didn't study enough.

Liz, despite having to work a lot, had bonded with her house guest. She felt as if the girl was another daughter to her, she had always wanted more than one child but her ex husband didn't want another. At least she now had a chance to be a substitute mother to Davina.

The Sherriff was glad that Caroline wasn't alone anymore, her daughter had found a soul sister in the young witch. It gave the woman a sense of peace, knowing that the two girls would have each others backs.

Caroline had a different plan for the day. She knew that Davina had settled pretty well into her new home, so she felt that she was ready to take the girl to the old witches house so they could speak to Ayana. They were currently on a time crunch, seeing as the Mikaelson's were returning home very soon. Which also meant that Elena, Stefan, and Tyler were coming back.

The blonde knew that she should feel guilty for not thinking about Tyler all that much since Klaus had taken him but having him away made her feel that she should just stay single and enjoy it. She had spent so much time trying to compete with Elena and trying to have the same kind of love that she had, she hadn't realised just how boring it was. Caroline wanted an adventure, to be with someone that gave her a thrill, who wouldn't treat her as a second choice.

But more than anything, Caroline wanted to be herself. She wanted to know who she was now that she was a vampire. She now had forever to find the one, and she was not going to waste her time looking when she could have as much fun as she could being single and being with friends.

And though she couldn't physically grow up, she sure as hell could grow up mentally and spiritually. She needed to leave a bit the bitchy attitude behind, she wasn't going to completely change her personality, and she needed to leave the jealousy and insecurity behind too.

This time, he or she would find her. Caroline Forbes would too busy finding herself.

When Davina had gone down to the kitchen, fully prepared for another day of working out and studying, she had found Caroline packing a basket with food and she had a backpack ready to go.

"What is all this?" Davina asked curiously.

"We are going to go for a run, there is someplace I want to show you and there is someone that wants to talk to you. We can trust them. And then there is something important we need to do but the person we are speaking to will tell you what it is, you'll understand more than me." Caroline stated with a little nervousness seeping into her voice.

The witch caught the slight nerve and asked, "Is the person we're going to see a witch?"

"Yes." The vampire heard the slight intake of breath and quickly tried to explain. "She is a dead witch that wanted to get in contact with me a few weeks ago. She explained a few things and said that there was someone that needed to be back to help Rebekah save her family..."
