Klaus had felt fear before. When he was human, when he was cursed, the incident in London, and when Mikael had found him in New Orleans. But those were nothing compared to the fear he felt when he got the phone call from Rebekah about Mikael.

Rebekah had two close calls with the man since they had been on the run, and that was two too many for him and their brothers. The closest to being almost killed by their father wasn't just in New Orleans when she had been stabbed in the chest with the stake, and it missed her heart by inches.

But London was when she was nowhere near her brothers.

There had been an argument between the siblings and Rebekah had managed to leave Italy without anyone noticing until the next morning, she had been gone for just over 2 years before they had tracked her down after she had fled London in 1666. They had found her in France a week after the Great Fire of London. She would have been daggered had she not looked terrified and relieved when they showed up.

Kol was impressed with the fire she started, he liked the destruction, even it was an accident.

Elijah wasn't at all surprised that his sister's first thought to escape their father was to cause a fire. He just wished that it didn't burn down most of London, he liked the city.

Klaus was not happy that she had ran from Italy, nor was he happy that she was gone for 2 years. He was terrified that something would happen to her and he was right, the hybrid was just thankful that she had managed to escape.

That was one of the few times that Rebekah had managed to evade getting daggered.

Klaus couldn't understand why Rebekah wouldn't tell him that she planned to kill Mikael herself. Everything that had to do with his sister since he woke her up had made him antsy and worried. Things were not adding up.

His sister was more emotional lately, knew things that she shouldn't, was more forgiving and apologetic, more truthful but also more secretive, and less of the Original bitch persona that she had put on for the past 800 years. He didn't know if he should feel relieved at that last point.

When he was sure that Rebekah was asleep safely in her room at the motel, and that the doppelgänger and her boyfriend were behaving, the artist went to the outside seating area where his brothers were waiting.

He was still shocked with himself that he had apologized to his brothers. He rarely apologized to anyone let alone mean it. 'Rebekah is rubbing off on me.' He thought with a sigh.

Throughout the afternoon, the previously daggered brothers had watched their sister carefully. They wanted to see for themselves what Niklaus had meant on the phone.

They saw what he did.

She was getting pale and there was a tiredness to her that worried them, it seemed to disappear after she fed but it was definitely new. They could always tell when she needed blood. Rebekah would be unfocused and be off in her own little world as she stared at nothing in particular. Then there was something else that they noticed. Whenever Kol or Elijah were undaggered, she would be around them more often without actually realising what she was doing. However, throughout the afternoon she would be close to them but seemed to be conflicted about whether to be close or far away.

Elijah seemed to believe that she wanted to pull away because she felt embarrassed about what she had revealed to them.

Finn was leaning towards Elijah's idea but still felt that there was something else.

Kol believed that his suit clad brother was only partly right, he knew that there had to be something else going on. But he doubted that any of them would figure it out fully, unless Rebekah told them what was going on with her. If she wanted to keep a secret then she would make sure that no one would know anything, or only let some things out but not enough for anyone to get it right.

The four brothers were silent for a few minutes after Klaus sat down at the table. Each of them had a tumbler of whiskey as they gathered their thoughts.

Elijah was the first to speak up, effectively turning everyone's attention to him. "The matters of our sister is troubling me very much."

"I feel the same and I am sure you two are as well." Klaus didn't bother asking Kol and Finn, as he could tell that they did.

"Why did we think that father would not lay a hand on her?" Kol wondered.

Finn answered, his voice harsh with anger. "Because we knew that father had not laid a hand on our mother, so in turn we thought that he would never lay a hand on any woman in our family. We should have realised that something was wrong."

"If Rebekah didn't want us to know something then we would never find out. Does anyone else think that Henrik knew?" Kol realised as soon as he said it that it was the first time that anyone had said their youngest brothers name in over 900 years. It hurt too much to even think about him, let alone say his name.

They stopped mentioning him around Nik first, he couldn't think about him without breaking down. And then there was Elijah, he was practically a father to Henrik. Soon enough it was only Rebekah, despite crying at the thought him, she refused to never not think of him. But she didn't ever bring up his name with anyone in case they mentioned him to her brothers.

The men knew that she thought of their late brother constantly though. Whenever there were a field of flowers she would always make a crown or a bracelet. They once found her journals filled with stories, many of them fictional, about adventures with all of the siblings included. She had a great imagination.

"With how much time he spent with her, and the fact that she became practically his mother unintentionally and he thought of her his actual mother instead of his older sister, there was a huge possibility that he did know. Maybe she told him not to tell us out of fear that he would get hurt if father found out that he knew or that we would get hurt if he told us. Or maybe he didn't tell anyone in fear that father would have done something worse to Rebekah, like maybe he would have killed her." Klaus suggested, he felt sick just thinking it.

Elijah smiled as he said, "I bet our father was surprised when she showed up with a white oak stake. His ego must have been bruised to see that it wasn't any of us but the daughter he despised, the one person we protected the most whilst we were on the run. It does not surprise me all that much that Rebekah went behind Niklaus' back to kill Mikael. I stopped her from doing so when we were human, she had a knife and our father was sleeping. It was after he beat Niklaus so badly that I feared for his life. Rebekah can be downright dangerous when she wants to protect her family, and when she wants to remove a threat to her life."

Kol laughed at the irony. Their father murdered by the first child he stabbed in the heart, quite literally. He believed that she was weak and yet she was the one to send him to Hel. She had overcome her fear of him to end the threat to her family. He couldn't be any prouder of his baby sister.

Finn was in deep thought after Elijah said that he 'wasn't surprised that Rebekah went behind Niklaus' back to kill Mikael'. For her to get close enough to their father to almost kill him when they were human was a great feat within itself. "Why didn't she try to do the same thing when we became vampires?" He muttered to himself accidently.

"What?" Kol asked in surprise.

Finn explained his thought process to the others and they too went deep in thought. "Why hadn't she tried to go behind your backs to kill him before? She had plenty of opportunities to do so I imagine. If she was able to get so close to our father to almost be able to kill him when we were human, you would think that she could do the same since becoming a vampire. If you hadn't stopped her back then, do you think that she would have been able to kill him?" He turned to Elijah.

Elijah didn't hesitate to answer. "Yes. She was going to do it and the only reason I stopped her was not that I feared he would awaken, but that it would take a toll on her and she would not be the same girl we knew. Remember when she killed for the first time? It almost broke her."

"What is the difference between the past 1000 years to now? What changed for Rebekah to want to kill Mikael now than before she was last daggered?" Finn questioned.

"The only one that can answer that is our sister." Kol admitted.
