Alastor fiddled with a skinning knife. He was twirling it in and out between is fingers. Alastor was sat in his leather chair by his bookcase and a small side table with a radio on it. Alastor was debating on many things. He enjoyed being around Vox again but that means he would also have to accept being around his colleagues. He hated those two arrogant brats. Alastor also knew that he wanted Vox gone but maybe not as much as he thought. Alastor realized his hate for Vox came from the fact he thought Vox never wanted to be around him again. Alastor kept playing with the knife. Alastor hated this feeling as if he was attached to someone. He was already attached to one person from his long term deal. He did not need to be attached to another soul.
Vox sat there in a board meeting about how channels ratings or something with his broadcasting network. Vox couldn't focus. When he woke up this morning he was expecting Alastor to at least be in bed with him. All Vox saw was an empty bed and a kitchen knife on the floor. Vox knew Alastor had tried to kill him last night. Vox would love to play dumb but he knew Alastor. Vox was so confused like all the times before when dealing with Alastor. Vox as lucky to be alive but at the same time it wasn't an angelic blade. Vox would just fall back down to hell in fourteen days. Alastor would have just waited out his contract. None of it made any sense. That's when it hit Vox, he would be gone for fourteen days. More time for Alastor to put up an emotional shield. Restart all the progress they had made becoming friends again. Vox felt betrayed. If this is how he truly felt then why did he just not take his soul now and placed it in the stupid radio dimension with all the other old overlords. Vox sat back in his chair realizing it was always going to be like this. Vox got up and left and not one employee called him out.
Alastor got up from his chair he was at. He had been thinking since he came home at three in the morning but now it was two in the afternoon and it was time for a broadcast. He got up and went to the door. Alastor opened the door to find Vox standing there on the other side.
Vox was just about to knock. Vox's closed fist was right at Alastor's peck. Vox immediately pulled it back.
"Why are you here," Alastor hissed.
"I need to talk to you," Vox said standing in front of the doorway as he could tell Alastor wanted to flee.
"Make it fast," Alastor said wondering why Vox didn't use the cameras to teleport here.
"Last night," Vox said but was interrupted.
"Last night was great," Alastor said but sounded standoffish.
"It was until one point," Vox said trying hard not to scream and yell but Vox wanted to remain as civil as possible for this so Alastor knew he was serious.
"What you wanted to finish that game on your phone?" Alastor asked jokingly.
"You were going to kill me," Vox said.
Alastor froze and his face was went even more pale.
"How did you?" Alastor started to ask but remembered something.
"With this," Vox said as he pulled out the knife Alastor got from Vox's kitchen.
"Vox," Alastor started to say.
"Don't bother," Vox said cutting Alastor off. "I thought we were getting along and becoming what we used to be but it was all a trick by you. How could I have let myself trust you again. Now I see your true intentions. I want no part of you."
Alastor started blankly at Vox. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Vox," Alastor tried to start again and reached out to try to touch Vox.
Vox pushed Alastor's hand away and took a step back.
"I want nothing to do with you. You like to play your mind games and I thought you actually wanted to fix this. But all you wanted was to take out your competition like always," Vox explained feeling himself hold back tears.
"Vox, please," Alastor tried to get him to listen.
"No it's over you win like always," Vox said as he pulled out their contract.
Alastor was scared. What hidden clause was in there for trying to kill him. Vox ripped it in half and burned it with blue fire. Alastor watched as it disappeared.
"It was nice knowing you Al," Vox said as he teleported through the cameras.
Alastor went to go talk to the camera but they were gone. Alastor realized he didn't get to make a choice. Alastor was pissed Vox got to make the final call of their deal. Alastor slammed his door shut and then realized that he lost Vox again. This time it wasn't Vox's fault but his. Alastor slowly slid down the door and felt himself tear up. Alastor now knew why people cried over losing someone that was still alive.
