Vox stood outside the door. Vox had his backpack slung over one shoulder and his suit case in his hand. Vox sighed knowing he was going to was out either leave alone with a prize or die here. He knocked on the door and it flew open.
"You're back!" Nifty said grabbing Vox's leg.
"Heh, long time no see," Vox said as he looked down at Nifty.
Vox remembered when Alastor got her and she was a neat freak who left a blood mess of any boy who denied her.
"Boss is not happy with you," Nifty said. "He used to love you."
"Good to know," Vox said.
"That's why I never wanted you," Nifty continued as she smelt Vox's leg. "You were always his."
"Nifty!" Charlie screamed. "Please get off of Vox."
Nifty laughed as she skipped away.
"Charlie, I am used to it," Vox said as he entered the hotel.
"Wait you are?" Charlie said confused.
"Yeah," Vox said remembering all the times with Alastor. "I was Alastor's apprentice."
"You were!" Charlie screamed.
"I take it our new guest has arrived," Alastor said appearing from the shadows.
"Alastor!" Charlie said with shock.
"Charlie dear, I would be happy to show him to his room," Alastor said.
"The one we agreed on right," Charlie said.
"Why of course," Alastor said as he put his arm around Vox. "Now follow me."
They walked up the stairs together.
"Now Charlie wants you on third floor," Alastor said as the passed the third floor.
"You missed it," Vox said as he dragged his suit case up the stairs.
"You won't like it there," Alastor said. "No ones on that floor she thought it be the safest place for all of us."
"So we should be heading down?" Vox said sounding annoyed Alastor keeps walking up the stairs.
"No, your new room is across from mine," Alastor said as he tapped his fingers in the bannister.
"What?!" Vox said stopping dead in his tracks.
"I need to keep an eye on you to make sure you don't destroy my work," Alastor explained.
"Is that the only reason?" Vox asked hoping for another.
"You are with the moth again aren't you?" Alastor said trying to hide the anger in his voice.
Vox continued to follow Alastor up to the top do the stairs. Vox didn't what was happening.
"Why would you care?" Vox asked as they reached the top of the stairs.
Alastor felt his face fill with anger.
"Just wondering if your stupid boyfriend would be paying visits to the hotel," Alastor said as they walked down the hall.
"More like you don't want to share," Vox hissed.
"You had your chance and you threw the contract away," Alastor said with hate.
"I threw it away!" Vox shouted. "You tried to kill me!"
"I didn't though!" Alastor shouted back.
"Oh good for you," Vox said mockingly. "But you thought about it and what's stop you from doing it again."
Alastor stopped as they reached their rooms. Alastor opened the door for Vox to his new room and turned and went into his own room. Vox stood there angry that Alastor just ran away. Vox entered his room and started to unpack.Vox looked at his bed. It was covered in black sheets. He set up a computer desk with a bunch of monitors. Vox had his laptop and tablet in the beside table. Vox put all of his clothes in his closet. Vox felt proud he put together a room that would work in two hours. He heard a knock at the door. Vox walked over and opened it. Alastor was on the other side of it.
"What do you want?" Vox asked.
"I am the host of this hotel," Alastor started.
"You keep saying that and it's fucking annoying," Vox said by cutting him off.
Alastor's shifted to radio dials but went back to normal real quick.
"I have to check in the guests to see how they settled," Alastor said while peering in.
"Great good job," Vox said as he started to close the door but Alastor placed his foot in the doorway. "You did your job you can leave."
"I feel as if we are not on the same page," Alastor said.
"I hate you," Vox said.
Alastor felt his heartache.
"Do you mean that?" Alastor asked without his radio filter.
That was a gut punch to Vox. He hadn't heard that voice in forever. Vox felt his eyes tear up and he looked away.
"I could never mean it," Vox admitted.
"Good," Alastor said as his radio filter once again turned on.
"Charlie has activities at four don't be late," Alastor said as he walked away.
Vox went to reach out for him but the shadows took Alastor away. Vox stopped and looked at the floor. Vox felt too many emotions to try and process them so he went back to setting up devices.
