Don't ask me how I convinced my new boyfriend, who I'd been dating for two weeks, to get picked up from my house and taken to my sister and her husband's house, I think I did it by saying I was looking for some friendly support on my side as Sam and I had been on a hot streak lately, but I was still so embarrassed.

"Are you okay?" Steve, who was driving, asked from the seat next to me. It allowed me to take my attention away from the road, which I had been focusing on for the past ten minutes.

"Uh-huh." I tried to smile, but my face was telling a different story. And I knew how ridiculous I looked carrying a bottle of Jack as a wedding gift, but that was Luke's idea, of course.

"You look nervous..." Steve joked a bit. Then he took my free hand, which was not pinning the bottle to my lap, from my knee and pulled it into his palm, lifting it up and pressing it to his lips. I took my hand back so quickly that I caused the poor guy to take his attention off the road for a second and look at me.

"I'm sorry..." I stammered as I became breathless. "I'm just nervous, um..."

Let's pause the story here. Okay, I asked to go out with him. I really like him. Not like with Kate. If I had to briefly describe Steve, he was the kind of guy your parents would advise you to date. He had a good haircut, a jawline sharp enough to bring most men and women to their knees with ease, and yet he was surprisingly easy-going. You couldn't find anything wrong with him. Maybe the problem was me, as always. Maybe Matt broke my trust for so long that I was too blind to see that good guys could still exist.

As a silent apology, I slid closer to him, shifting in my seat to avoid acting like the jerk I wasn't anymore. His broad shoulder was always ready for my head. Steve and I have been close for a while now. Unlike Matt, he was someone who wouldn't turn me away when I felt like approaching him in public, and I was very comfortable with him.

"Is this here, am I in the right place?" He asked me as the navigation on Steve's dashboard gave a small blip. By the end of the ride, which was silent for the rest, I was so deep in my own thoughts that I must have forgotten how shitty this situation felt from the very beginning.

"I guess it must be."

"Do you think so?" The man with his hands on the wheel chuckled slightly. "Don't you know if this is your sister's house?"

I grumbled as I opened the door. "I told you I haven't been to Sam's house since she got married."

I looked around for a moment as Steve got out of the car and locked the doors. I brushed off my coat and looked around to see what a wealthy neighborhood the huge house that Sam's beloved father-in-law, Matt's father, had bought for the newlyweds, was in. The house was located in one of those elite estates where only the rich lived. It's the kind of place you'd want to raise your kids. It only made me wonder if one day my sister and Matt would go down that path, too, to have a child. I was so horrified at the thought that I didn't notice Steve standing next to me for a while. Only when he gently placed his hand on my shoulder did I come to my senses.

"Shall we go?" After giving him a quick nod, I followed my boyfriend.

I held Steve's arm as we walked down the sidewalk towards the house. It was like some kind of silent display of power. For what will happen next. I need to point out this; I really like him and I have no choice but to pray that my half-witted sister or her evil husband doesn't say anything to offend him tonight.

Steve and I were standing in front of a huge garden gate. I put my finger to the small box on the wall and rang the bell once. I turned my eyes to the handsome man standing next to me before the garden gate slid left and right, granting entry to the two of us. He is really handsome. Even though he's not as tall as Matt, he's still tall. Steve is approximately 5'10 tall and has an above average body as he was involved in sports throughout his university life. I haven't seen him naked yet, but his arm muscles under his shirt still feel good in my hands.

Steve looked at me with his blue eyes and gave me a very hot smile. When my face involuntarily moved towards his, a loud sound was heard from the small box. "Oh my god, Ben and his boyfriend! Come in!" It was my sister, and now she looked like she was about to announce to the whole neighborhood that the man next to me and I were a couple.

"Wow..." Steve chuckled as he pulled me towards the garden. "Your sister seems very enthusiastic."

"Yes," I said, looking around absently. "I don't know how many times she's cooked in her life, so I'm sorry if she's hired a promoter or something for tonight."

"I don't mind." As Steve walked past the huge, brightly lit swimming pool, he gently placed his hand on my arm and leaned in close to my ear. "All I care about is being here with you. And if cold food is the price I have to pay for it, so be it."

I felt a cramp in my stomach, and it was definitely not because I had starved myself all day. First; Steve's words were indeed very provocative. Second; I didn't know what would greet us next and unfortunately every step I took was bringing me a little closer to Matt. I was scared of that, but I was even more scared of my family finding out I was dating a guy when I was threatened by Sam. I don't know yet if I'm willing to reveal this side of me. When all of this was so new even to me.

It was not surprising that the door of the house was opened by a middle-aged, short, Asian lady. Of course Matt will have a maid. "Good evening, Mr. Carter," the lady in the blue apron muttered in a broken accent, throwing open the door for us to enter, stepping back a little and sending an odd look to Steve, who was standing next to me. "Mr. and Mrs. are waiting for you inside."

Still, I found it a bit strange and thought about it for a moment before walking in behind Steve. Has my sister, who grew up in the countryside and does not come from a very wealthy family, already adapted to this rich life?

You could tell by the fact that she didn't bother coming over to greet me and Steve.
