The cherry blossom park was a breathtaking explosion of color. Sunlight, filtered through a canopy of delicate pink petals, cast a magical glow on everything it touched. Lush green grass, dotted with fallen blossoms like confetti, stretched out before you.
Above, the branches of the cherry blossom trees intertwined, creating a soft, fragrant tunnel. Each tree was a masterpiece, a cloud of fluffy pink blossoms bursting forth from dark, gnarled branches. Some were weeping cherries, their branches cascading down in a waterfall of delicate blooms, while others stood tall and proud, their blossoms reaching towards the sky. Petals, light as snowflakes, danced on the gentle breeze, swirling around you in a shower of pink confetti.
An 18 years old Taehyung, his heart pounding with nervous anticipation, knelt before you in a formal pose. He wore a crisp white button-down shirt, the sleeves rolled up to reveal strong forearms.
A light blue blazer, perfectly tailored to his lean frame, hung open, revealing a glimpse of a pale blue T-shirt peeking out from underneath. Dark wash jeans, ironed and pressed, hugged his legs, and polished brown loafers completed his outfit. He wasn't dressed for a walk in the park, but for a momentous occasion, a testament to the seriousness of his intentions. His posture, however, betrayed a hint of his nervousness.
One knee was planted firmly on the ground, while the other leg was bent slightly at the knee, his foot resting flat on the grass. The velvet box with the ring was held in his right hand, which trembled slightly, a sign of the emotions roiling within him. His eyes, usually sparkling with mischief, were filled with a nervous sincerity, his gaze fixed on you.
"Y/N," Taehyung began, his voice thick with emotion, "from the moment I first saw you, I knew there was something special about you. Your kindness, your intelligence, your laugh... they all light up my world. Today, I want to take things to the next level. Y/N, will you be my girlfriend?"
He opened the box, revealing a dazzling ring that sparkled like a captured star. Your heart ached for Taehyung. You saw the raw vulnerability in his eyes, the hope that flickered like a candle flame.
"Taehyung," you said softly, taking his hands in yours, "you are an amazing person. Your smile has the power to chase away any darkness, and your kindness is a beacon of light. But..."
A tear escaped your eye, tracing a glistening path down your cheek. "My parents have different plans for me. They want me to focus on my career, to establish myself before I even think about love and marriage."
Taehyung's smile faltered, replaced by a mask of desolation. Tears welled up in his eyes, threatening to spill over.
"I understand," he choked out, his voice barely a whisper. "I don't want to be the reason you hold yourself back from your dreams."
You squeezed his hands gently. "This doesn't mean I don't care about you, Taehyung. I truly do. But right now, I have to follow my parents' wishes."
With a final, lingering look, you rose to your feet. "Please, Taehyung," you pleaded, your voice thick with emotion, "don't give up on love. There's someone out there who will be able to give you everything you deserve."
You started to turn away, the weight of your decision a heavy stone in your stomach. But before you could take a step, Taehyung spoke, his voice barely a whisper.
"Y/N," he choked out, "can I... can I have one last hug?"
His words, raw and vulnerable, snagged at your heartstrings. You couldn't bear to see him crumble completely. Hesitantly at first, you turned back towards him. His eyes, filled with a heartbreaking mixture of hope and despair, met yours. With a soft sigh, you opened your arms.
