The sunlight streaming through the windows of the library felt like a welcome escape from the heaviness that had settled in your heart. The scent of old books and polished wood was soothing as you walked through the aisles, fingers brushing against the spines of novels, looking for something new to lose yourself in. Anything to drown out the thoughts swirling in your mind.

You were turning a corner when you collided softly with someone. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" you said immediately, stepping back.

The woman before you looked at you for a moment, her sharp eyes scanning your face. She was elegant, dressed in a fitted black dress and heels, her long hair styled perfectly. Then, her expression shifted, a knowing smirk playing on her lips. "Wait a second," she said, tilting her head. "You're Taehyung's wife, aren't you?"

You blinked, startled by her sudden recognition. "Um... yes, I am," you replied hesitantly, unsure of where this was going.

She crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing slightly. "I'm Soojin," she said, her tone casual but with an edge to it. "Taehyung's ex-girlfriend. We were together until about... what, seven months ago? Before he married you."

Your stomach dropped at her words. You had never asked Taehyung about his past relationships, and he had never volunteered any information. Now, standing face-to-face with a woman who clearly had a history with your husband, you felt exposed and vulnerable.

"Oh," you said softly, not knowing what else to say.

Soojin's smirk deepened as she took a step closer. "I'm surprised he didn't tell you about me. We were so in love. He adored me," she said, her voice laced with mockery. "But I guess he had to settle for what his family wanted, right?"

You felt your chest tighten. "I... I don't think this is necessary," you murmured, trying to move past her.

But Soojin wasn't done. "Necessary?" she scoffed. "Listen, sweetheart, I'm just saying what's obvious. Do you really think he loves you? Do you think you'll ever compare to what we had?"

You swallowed hard, your throat dry. "Taehyung and I are building our own life together," you said, trying to sound firm, but your voice wavered.

Soojin laughed, a cruel, hollow sound. "Building your own life?" she repeated. "Is that what you call it? Because from what I hear, you're nothing more than a convenient option for him. A box he checked off to keep his parents happy."

Her words struck deep, but you refused to let her see how much they affected you. "I don't know why you feel the need to say these things," you said quietly. "But Taehyung made his choice. He chose me."

Her smile turned cold. "Chose you?" she echoed. "Don't kid yourself. If he really had a choice, he'd still be with me. He didn't marry you out of love. He married you out of obligation."

You took a shaky breath, your hands trembling slightly. "I think we're done here," you said, trying to keep your voice steady.

But Soojin leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Just remember this," she said, her tone dripping with venom. "No matter how much effort you put into this marriage, you'll always be second-best. You'll never have his heart the way I did."

You were still standing amidst the quiet rows of the library when Soojin leaned in closer, her eyes gleaming with malice. Her words became sharper, more pointed, as if she enjoyed twisting the knife further.

"You know," she said, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, "Taehyung used to bring me flowers every Friday. It was a tradition-white lilies, my favorite. I wonder if he does that for you?" She paused, her lips curling into a smirk. "Oh, wait. He doesn't, does he? Poor thing."
