The night had settled in with a quiet serenity, the city outside still and distant. Taehyung's footsteps echoed softly as he entered the house, the familiar yet haunting silence of the home greeting him.
He paused for a moment at the threshold, his gaze scanning the dimly lit hallway, searching for the one presence he longed for - your presence.
A bitter smile tugged at the corner of his lips, a painful twist of nostalgia and regret. He remembered how, just a month ago, you would rush to greet him when he arrived home, your arms open wide, your smile radiant and full of love. Your warmth would envelope him, and he could feel the sincerity in your embrace, your lips pressing against his cheek, a sweet kiss welcoming him home.
Even though it had been an arranged marriage, you never held back from showing your love.
But now, the house was quiet. Empty.
He made his way upstairs, his heart heavy with the weight of his guilt. His feet led him to your shared bedroom, the place where so many memories of love and laughter had once filled the air.
The soft glow of the bedside lamp cast gentle shadows across the room, and there you were - curled up on the bed, a book resting on the side of you. The sight of you sleeping, so peaceful and serene, only deepened the ache in his chest.
He lingered in the doorway for a moment, watching you, as if trying to remember the person you once were. His heart twisted at the thought of how things had changed between you, how distant you had become.
With a soft sigh, he stepped into the room, closing the door quietly behind him. His eyes drifted to the comforter, which had slipped off your body in your sleep.
He gently pulled it up, tucking it around you, ensuring you were warm and comfortable. As his fingers brushed against the fabric, his gaze fell upon the book beside you, a well-worn novel that seemed to hold some kind of charm in its pages.
He picked it up slowly, his fingers tracing the cover before opening it to a random page.
As he read the words on the page, he found himself drawn in. The passage was from a romance novel, one that spoke of a love that felt as deep as the oceans, one that transcended time and distance. Taehyung's heart clenched as he read the words, unable to tear his eyes away.

She lay in his arms, the man who had promised her a lifetime of love, her heart beating in perfect rhythm with his. His touch was gentle, his love tender, as though every movement was a promise to cherish her, to never let her go. The world outside could fade away, but in his embrace, she found all she had ever wanted.
"I will love you, always," he whispered, his voice a soft murmur against her hair. "You are my heart, my home. There is no part of me that does not belong to you."
Her eyes fluttered closed, her heart swelling with emotion. She knew in that moment that this was the love she had always dreamed of - a love that was not just fleeting or temporary, but eternal. A love that was steadfast and unwavering.
She looked up at him, her gaze filled with trust and tenderness. "And I will love you, always," she whispered in return, her voice full of certainty. "Through every trial, through every joy, through every moment. I am yours, and you are mine."
His lips captured hers in a kiss, slow and deep, as though sealing the promise they had made. In that kiss, she felt every unspoken word, every emotion they had ever shared, a promise of forever. In his arms, she was safe. She was loved. And nothing would ever take that away.

Taehyung paused, his thumb brushing over the page. His chest tightened, a lump forming in his throat as the weight of the words settled in his heart.
