Chapter Six, Pub and Club Crawlin'

A week had passed since lunch with Aang's friends. Zuko was sitting in his dorm room trying to cram 16th-century literature into his brain, If you couldn't say what you wanted to say in 473 words then it was better not to say anything at all. He had just gotten back from the campus and his mind was refusing to engage.

His soulmate mark had changed a couple of times that week, mostly boring Google searches, usually about spelling and grammar. Zuko was sure his soulmate was also at university by the number of random searches his soulmate did.

Zuko's phone beeped. Well, it actually just vibrated. He hadn't taken his phone off silent since the year 2017. Zuko gingerly picked it up, dreading the worst. Jet had not stopped hassling him, he had tried to reach him all week, and he had been blowing up Zuko's phone so much that Zuko finally blocked him and deleted his number.

It was not a text from Jet, it was a text from Aang, it read: "Heya Zuko! Do you wanna come clubbing with us tonight?".

Zuko thought about this, did he want to go clubbing tonight? No, not really. Loud music blasting, overpriced drinks, lots of sweaty people who are always way too close. Yeah no, it did not sound fun.

On the other hand, though, Zuko did like Aang, and as far as Zuko could tell Aang seemed to like him too. He had been visiting Zuko's dorm room now and then, sometimes with Bumi in tow, often just popping in to say hello with snacks or homemade food which seemed suspiciously like something that girl Katara would make.

And Zuko seemed to be getting along with Aang's friends, well... for now he did. And Zuko had no plans this weekend, absolutely nothing going on. Is that sad? Maybe, anyway, that's not important.

Zuko shook his head, clearing his thoughts. He didn't want to go.

He texted Aang back: "OK, what time and where?"

And exactly five hours later Zuko had made an honest attempt at clubbing attire. He was wearing black jeans, a black t-shirt, and his beat-up Converse sneakers, and to spruce it up he had brushed his hair back, it did not make much of a difference. His hair still looked like a black mop, just now it looked slightly tidier.

As much as his hair was overgrown and in need of a haircut and Green-day-looking at times, Zuko liked it the way that it was, he didn't have to rake it back into a bun anymore. He could do whatever he pleased with it now, so he would grow it as long as he damn well pleased.

Zuko's thoughts snapped back to his reflection. Ah yes, clubbing attire. Would he need a jacket? It was summertime so he should be fine right? But what if he got cold?

Zuko walked over to his desk and opened his window, it did not open that far so he stuck his hand out for a moment trying to gauge the temperature. After solemnly standing there for a minute and a half with his arm out of the window, Zuko declared the evening's air warm enough for no jacket.

He checked the time, only 9:17 pm. Not clubbing time, what even is clubbing time? 11? Probably 11. It didn't matter. Aang had texted him a pub's address. Apparently, they were all going to eat a bit and pre-drink before they hit the clubs.

Zuko took one last look in the mirror, He rubbed at his forehead, the bruise from falling in the dorm bathroom was still there, but it had turned into a yellowish-greenish colour, and it was starting to fade away. At least it matched his scar a bit more now.

Zuko checked he had everything he needed. Phone, wallet, keys, yup he was good to go. He locked his door and headed out the dorm stairs.

The Bar was called "The Lucky Tigerseal". Finding the bar was easy enough, but finding Aang and the gang was not so easy.
