Chapter Ten, A Late-Night Conversation

The rest of the day was filled with surf and sun, eventually, when the sun started to go down the gang went back to the house and made mousetraps for dinner, and then they settled down to some good ol fashioned drinking games.

It was a just night like any other, it was a night like nothing before. Because Zuko had seen the gang drinking at clubs and such before and he thought had a general idea of what everyone was like tipsy.

Toph was just more of the same. But she lost whatever small filter she had and said all kinds of outrageous stuff, and made crazy accusations like "I bet you'd be into BDSM, you give me that sort of vibe."

Katara would get very giggly, the dumbest things would make her laugh, and she also tended to be bubbly and sweet when she was tipsy.

Aang didn't drink due to the whole monk thing, the theory was confirmed by Aang when asked, he was also a vegetarian. Aang mainly just drank fizzy drinks when it was his turn to chug or take a shot, which Zuko could argue was more painful than drinking actual alcohol. Like seriously have you ever tried to skull a full cup of coke? Impossible I tell you.

Zuko had seen Sokka drunk before but never this drunk, he was losing most of the games and because of that, he was getting absolutely smashed. Drunk Sokka was loud, rambunctious, and rather chaotic. All in all, it made for a very entertaining night.

Zuko wasn't drinking very much, during the games he switched between drinking alcohol and juice, he was a little tipsy, tiddly you could say. Enough to be happy but not enough to be stupid.

He was watching his own drinking like a hawk. He didn't want to embarrass himself by throwing up or something stupid like that first night out clubbing with the gang. As well as bad memories of Jet, especially the night he couldn't remember in Jet's bedroom had left a bad taste in his mouth in relation to alcohol. He didn't want another stupid accident like that to happen again, especially not with people he liked and wanted to stay on good terms with. He didn't want to get blackout around the gang yet, he wasn't ready for whatever disaster that could bring.

They played games like Truth or Drink, which was a lot like Truth or Dare but instead of dare, it was drink, they also played Jenga and a braille version of Cards Against Humanity. Eventually, the late evening began to settle down as everyone started to crash.

Katara and Toph went off to bed while Aang and Zuko helped Sokka to his room. He told them repeatedly that he wasn't tired but when they dropped him on the bed he was out almost immediately.

Aang and Zuko walked back out into the lounge where Katara was cleaning up.

"Hey Katara, I think I'm gonna hit the sack. Don't worry about the dishes, just leave em all by the sink and I'll take care of them in the morning," Aang said.

Katara smiled at him. "Thanks, Aang," she said.

"Goodnight! And Zuko, make sure she doesn't stay up cleaning all night," Aang said to Zuko.

"I do not stay up cleaning!" Katara said. Her cheeks were red and flushed due to the wine.

"Oh yes you do, you always clean up after us. Someone else can do it for once," Aang said.

He grinned at them and then threw up a peace sign. "Night!" and with that, he was off down the hall with Appa following behind him.

When Aang was out of sight Katara collected the rest of the plates from the table. Zuko grabbed the rest of the cups and carried them to the bench. Van Morrison's "Moondance" played softly off the lounge speakers, it gave the room a lovely jazzy vibe to it.
