Elena ended up upset at both Eliana and Damon for foiling her little grab an Original's attention plan and not allowing her to be taken to Klaus. And Elijah killing the messengers didn't stop her from wanting to try again.
Oh! And while they were off in Richmond, playing bait for Klaus, Stefan got stuck in the tomb with Katherine while retrieving the moonstone. Which left Elena's safety in the hands of the other Salvatore brother.
With Elena still wanting to go to Klaus, Bonnie, Damon, Jeremy and Eliana tested her, leaving her with the moonstone and seeing if she'd take it. And she did, which led to Bonnie locking her in her house via spell, sealing her inside. Which was now where Eliana was, playing babysitter for Elena.
"You guys think that keeping me here is going to stop Klaus?" Elena asked as she flopped down onto the couch. She didn't think it was necessary for them to stop her, it was her life, if she wanted to sacrifice herself for her family and friends she should be able to.
"It will keep you from running off to get yourself killed." Eliana said as she too, flopped onto the couch. Elena had tricked Eliana into going to Richmond to allow herself to be given up, now Eliana was making sure Elena stayed in place since she couldn't be trusted.
The front door to the Gilbert home opened, with Damon waltzing into the house. A pout made it's way onto Elena's face the second she saw him, and she turned away, avoiding looking towards him in protest of being locked inside.
"Aw, come on pouty. At least give me two points for ingenuity" Damon said as he leaned back against the wall.
Elena turned towards him then, and annoyed look on her face. "Do you think this is funny?"
"Yes, Elena. I find hilarity in the lengths that i have to go to, to repeatedly save your life."
Elena scoffed, she never asked anyone to save her life. "What did Stefan say about this?"
"He had a good laugh." Damon said as he plopped down onto the couch beside them.
They sat there for a few seconds in silence, and Eliana brought up what she had been thinking since Richmond, "Wait, is no one else wondering how the hell Elijah is alive? You shoved a stake through his heart, isn't that supposed to kill vampires?" She asked, her brows furrowed together.
Elena nodded, turning to Damon. "Yeah, what did Stefan say about Elijah being alive?" She asked, adding onto what Eliana was saying.
Damon let out an awkward chuckle, "Yeah, that...I didn't tell him."
