CHAPTER TEN:

Loud voices echoed throughout the haunted house which brought disappointment. It felt as though I turned into a rock and couldn't move until a touch woke all my senses and I was able to move again. I looked at his big and soft hands trying to elope his fingers with mine when we realized we weren't alone any longer. "Aryn!" A deep voice calling out my name echoed as it was followed by a breathy woman's voice. Kylo and Shay.

I sighed before turning around to face my friends who caught up with us. I thought Julian and I had time to catch our breath, talk, maybe share a kiss once or twice before they could catch up. I had known them long enough to know what type of person they become inside a horror house and it would take them long before even moving another step after the door closes. Maya would freak out and panic like she's gonna have a heart attack even if there's nothing to be scared of, while Shay can get pretty violent if you tried to scare her even if she's kind and most likely to have a statue of her saving a dog when she dies. That's why I don't really stay close with her whenever we go into one of these haunted houses, because she might punch me. Yohan, on the other hand, granted I've only gone with him twice when Eric would invite us to hang out, would scream in a tiny voice like it's a little girl you just heard. He'd casually scream while also walking like he's dragging a hundred pound cement on his feet from how slow he was. Kylo is a different case, though. He'd scream randomly, not because he got scared, but to hype himself up. Although hyping himself would be useless since he'd scream anyway and run away from the ghosts while dragging you with him.

When it comes to Jae and Clyde, I don't think I have ever given them enough care to notice their type and to be frank I'm not that curious either.

Julian was walking fast while holding my hands tightly when we joined the rest of my friends to the laboratory which was the next area of the haunted house. I felt an arm clinging around mine and as I turned my head to look at the person, I suddenly heard her whisper. "Bakit nandito pa rin kayo? We had a plan..." Shay asked despite a ghost trying to scream at our faces. "Well, I ran out of breath so we stayed in a corner for a while. We got into talking, and I realized I was overthinking this whole thing. So what if my friends came even if that wasn't the plan? That doesn't mean we can't enjoy the rest of the day, right?"

Even if it was dark, I could see the light fade in Shay's eyes. "That's nice and all, pero muntik ko na itackle si Kylo kanina sa entrance kasi tumakbo sya agad kahit kakapasok lang namin. I just wished you guys realized that from the start."

I pressed my lips to stop my laugh from getting out when I heard she almost tackled Kylo to the ground. "I'm sorry. Where's your special friend, anyway?" I asked after noticing Jacob wasn't around. She took a deep breath before giving an answer, "Kumakain ng ice cream sa labas."

As we turned into a corner, we were met with loud wailings and screams like people were being tortured. I closed my eyes before pulling Julian closer to me so I could bury my face on his back since scary noises weren't my thing. I felt Shay being pulled away from my arms, slightly dragging the sleeve of my checkered shirt by accident and a sudden cold breeze of air brushed through my exposed shoulder making me shiver. I was scared to open my eyes so I ignored it, continuing to bury my face on Julian's back so I wouldn't see ghost people getting tortured as they continued screaming into my ears.

Slowly opening my eyes, I looked at the person next to me who covered my shoulder by pulling up my shirt. One of the ghosts tried to scare me with the noises from her chainsaw, but my eyes were fixated on Kylo standing beside me. He covered my ears with his hands as our group ran away from that part of the horror house. Julian turned around to ask if I was okay, making Kylo take his hands away from my ears instantly.

We were in the middle of the whole course when lights started throbbing and as we looked up, there's a woman hanging upside down from the ceiling. A collective scream was heard from our group as we tried to run away when one of us tripped.
