I place the phone down and smile as I type on the keyboard, another client bringing in their boat to be worked on. The friendly demeanor in this town still is stiffling but very much enjoyed. At least no one hangs up the line or calling just to curse out the first one that answers the line, which something I enjoy very much so not getting the brute end of calls.Sure there are some that call to find out the status on their boat with a bit more aggression but understandably so when they want to be able to have their boat. Or like a few that use it for the means of their life with fishing to bring their income in. Still they are pleasant and kind.
As I type, my chair begins to move and turn. My fingers struggle to keep typing as a laugh comes from behind me. "What are you doing?" I squeal as hands meet my waist and lift me from the chair.
"It is lunch time and you, sweetheart, are late for our picnic date."
I frown and look at the clock. "I just need to finish the one log in then print the paper for you."
"Three minutes." Josh smirks and I sit back in my chair and roll up to the desk.
Princess raises her head up and makes way to Josh for head scratches.
Our date was perfection and hard to think that was three weeks ago. Since then we make sure our lunches are spent together.
I have finally got an appointment to see the doctor but that isn't for another couple of weeks. Josh and I haven't spent time together alone for our sexual time, but we have discussed condoms until I am protected again. We have not had dates outside of lunch hour but we will talk any minute we can get on the phone when not at work.
"There." I smile and stand from the desk, lean over and give Princess a kiss on her nose. "Be back soon."
She meows and Josh takes my hand. We walk through the building and out the back door, only stopping for him to get a basket.
"Fancy."
"Couldn't trust the plastic bags not ripping." Josh's cheeks tint a pink.
I nod in understanding. "Plus, they are to easy for the wind to blow them away and don't need those in the water or littering the ground."
"No that is the last thing the world needs. Also with the water part, it will ruin a boat motor if it gets caught up." He leads us down to the docks and there is an open section between the boats not in use.
The sun shines bright but we are shaded by the canopy on the dock. There is no blanket as we just choose to sit on the wood and remove our shoes. My sandals off, I lower my feet into the water and move them back and forth lightly.
"Here you are." Josh hands over a wrapper and I smell the food.
"Thanks." I take it and he sets two bottles of soda on the dock beside us before grabbing his food. Opening mine, I take a bite, a small hum coming from me as the flavors burst on my tongue.
"How is the office this morning?" Josh starts conversation after we have ate just a bit.
I shrug. "Same as normal. Although one person came in for some crickets and couldn't get them herself." I snicker at the thought. "Said she was going to surprise her spouse with the bait he uses and tell him to go fishing so she could go with her friend to the movies with the new romance one out tonight."
Josh chuckles. "That happens quite a bit. Speaking of, would you ever go fishing?"
I furrow my brows. "Swimming is more my thing."
Josh laughs and raises his hand up as a bee buzzes around him. Just as he does, his sandwich goes up in the air in his hand and a goose behind us on the dock goes for the grub.
"Josh." I point and he turns his head then pulls his sandwich down before the bird can take it.
Josh stuffs it in his mouth and jumps up from the dock making the water splash as the goose makes honking noises at him. A stiffled scream comes from Josh as the goose charges and snaps at his knees. I can't help for laughing as Josh walks backwards, finishing his bite of food and trying to shoo the bird away. The goose isn't giving it up as it continues to follow him around the dock.
With a huff, I get up quickly and just as Josh comes by me I use the chance to push him off the dock opposite of me. The goose honks more and I toss it my left over bread. The bird takes off and Josh sputters as he breaks the waters surface and treads in the deep water.
"Really?"
"What?" I smile wide.
"Traitor. Pushing me off the dock."
I point the direction the animal left. "He left though right? I just got you out of his sight and tossed the rest of my bread, which made the animal happy."
"Not supposed to feed the animals."
"I am not sure it would have left otherwise." I shrug.
I get on my knees and hold a hand out to Josh then retract it back when he comes to reach up. "Do not pull me into the water." I narrow my eyes as he smirks.
"You're no fun."
"Josh." I can't help but laugh. "No. I don't have any spare clothes."
"Fine you win." He rolls his eyes.
I hold my hand back out and Josh takes it while using his other to hold the dock as he pulls himself from the water. Laughter pours from me as Josh wrings out his clothes but my core also dampens at the sight.
Together we gather up the rest of the lunch and walk back up the dock and to his truck. Josh takes his spare towel and tries to dry off his hair and clothes.
"What happened to you?" Saul chuckles as he gets out of his car.
"Someone decided I needed a swim." Josh smirks.
"I was saving you from getting attacked by a goose." I giggle and shrug once more. I kiss Josh on the cheek. "Back inside to work I go. Come over tonight though? I will make you dinner to make up from our lunch ending with you going for a swim."
Josh smiles and nods.
