Two & a half years later ...
"Penelope come back here." Rachel's voice calls out as small patter sounds through the house and our daughters laughter sounds next.
I turn and see as Penelope runs through the living room. Bending over, I scoop her into my arms and she wiggles.
"No, Mommy going get me now." Penelope laughs.
"Yes I am little girl. You're hair has to be brushed and ready for us to leave." Rachel smiles.
I chuckle as Rachel takes Penelope from my arms and to the couch. Our daughter is officially three and loves to run around.
Time has passed us by so quickly and things has been perfect. Jade has been surpassing his classes and exploring his options for a future career path, work is going great, Kate gave birth to a baby boy last year and very happy. Samuel is finding a enjoyment for fixing anything technological and Simon is enjoying school since he started this past year.
A hard time in the last two years was when Dad passed. As Rachel had said the heavy and low part of a wave through our hearts with the grief of losing a loved one. Mom had taken it hard and visits a lot more now.
It is hard to believe that Samuel and Jade are fifeteen now and that I am thirty-eight.
"Josh did you pack the cooler?"
I nod when Rachel looks to me. We get in the truck and make it to the dock. In no time, I have the boat out from the dock and we are traveling down the lake.
Rachel holds Penelope as we glide down the water, while Jade is standing by me. When we come up to our spot, I smile looking to Rachel. Where it all began for her and I, but it also has become our favorite swimming place whenever we have came on the lake through the years together.
"We aren't stopping?" Jade speaks up as I never slow the boat.
"Not today." I smile and keep driving down the lake.
We end up passing by Saul and Regina's cabin. Jade watches and looks at the different area that he hasn't been able to see. This weekend Rachel and I have had planned for a long time. Yesterday, I slipped our bags into the bunker below as Jade never realized part of his laundry he didn't put away when I gave him the basket of clean ones and packed what was needed for this trip from that load I done. Rachel packed hers and Penelope's then gave me the bag.
After driving the boat for three hours, we finally make it to our destination.
"This is a beauty area." Jade smiles as he helps anchor the boat.
"It is." I agree. "Good thing we will be here overnight and tomorrow."
"Really!" Jade stands up a bit to fast and falls off over into the water.
I laugh as he comes to the surface. "There is a firework show tonight we will get to all watch from the boat and then we will travel in and dock the boat at the marina and stay in the luxurious hotel up the hill."
