Another week of work down and my head currently feels so heavy as I finish the dishes from breakfast. Every couple minutes I check my phone to see if Josh has messaged but so far nothing.
"Jade?" I turn around as I don't see him in the living room.
"Yeah?" He comes around the corner, I can see he is no longer in his pjs but in causal clothes.
"Do you have any homework for this weekend?"
"No, I done it during free period before school let out."
I nod and smile.
"Need any help?" Jade looks around the kitchen.
"I am just going to fold the clothes. You go ahead and play on your games until Josh gets here."
Jade fist pumps the air before he races to the couch. With a smile, I turn and grab the basket of my clothes. Jade's was done last night and I know he has already folded and placed them where they belong as where I left mine in the dryer overnight.
First I take some paracetamol to get this headache to begin relieving. With a sigh, I set out doing the one thing that I never enjoy. Now cleaning the house, no problem but folding is the one thing I don't care for. Mainly, it is the socks but living here is nice with the weather being a stable temperature I get to enjoy sandles much like back home just not as hot.
Just as I finish placing my last skirt in the closet the doorbell rings and I walk out to the door. With a smile on my face, "Hi."
"Hey." Josh smirks leaning on the edge of the porch. "Ready for today?"
I nod and turn around to see Jade turning the game system off. "What are we doing today?"
"I got some company out here." Josh nods behind him. "Thought we all make a day of it out on the water."
I squeal and clap. "Who is the company in your truck?" Jade steps up and I step back to grab my keys and purse. We step outside and Jade runs to Josh's truck as I lock up the door.
After locking up, I see that Josh has ran down and Jade hops into the back of his truck with enthusiasm. "Aunt Rachel!" Jade pops his head out. "Samuel is with us!"
Josh chuckles while holding my door open. "Hope you don't mind."
"Not at all! This will be so much fun. Does Samuel know how to swim or will he need a life jacket?"
"He knows how to swim." Josh nods.
"Where is Simon?"
"He is going to be staying with Kaira and Erik." He smiles and I nod in understanding, he still very young. "I got a basket packed for today."
A wide smile on my face, I get up in the truck and Josh closes my door. Turning behind me, I smile while Samuel and Jade are talking away but Samuel stops and waves.
"Hi, Miss Rachel."
"Hi Samuel and please just Rachel."
He smiles wide then Jade gets to asking what all we are doing today and Samuel answers. I turn back around and fasten the seatbelt as Josh starts the truck with a smile on his face.
Our trip is short to the docks behind the boat shop. Together we get out and I look up to see the sun playing peek-a-boo with the white puffy clouds in the sky. A light breeze blowing to make the humidty not feel so staggering as birds chirp in some of the trees by the shore.
"Need help?" I walk around to the tailgate as Josh grabs a large cooler and basket.
"Nah, I got this." He smiles and carries it down to the docks. I follow in behind him and the boys to my pontoon boat.
Josh places the cooler and basket down then watches as Samuel and Jade climb over into the boat. He holds his hand out for me and I step over into the rocking boat but take the basket of food with me so that Josh doesn't have too.
The last time I was on a boat was when the storms hit and Josh came to help me. Though my boat has been fixed, I haven't took the time to go out in it since.
"Ready?" Josh looks over his shoulder and we all cheer, making him untie the boat before he walks to the steering wheel and turns the boat on.
The boat ride is smooth as we glide across the water top and the waves flowing behind the boat, showing our travels through the water. Wind hitting our faces. Jade and Samuel lay on the front of the boat looking up to the sky and Josh takes us out to Round Bin, before he slows the boat and lowers the anchor system to keep us in place.
"Waters are calm today." I hum and Josh stands over me.
"They are, aren't they?"
I look up and cover my eyes from the sun that has came out from hiding. Barely catching his smirk as his hands shoot out and grab my waist.
"Let's change that." Josh chuckles before I am mid-air with my arms and legs moving as if I am running in the air.
A scream rips from me just as I hit the water. The air is knocked from my lungs as I am submerged and finally stop moving, I kick my legs and arms to get back to the surface. As I break the surface, I suck in the much needed air and hear the sounds of laughter. "Josh!" I tread the water and move the hair out of my face. "I didn't even take my summer dress off."
It puffs up around me making swimming a bit harder. As I make it to the boat, Josh bends at the back and holds his hand out. I huff and go to grab the ladder but Josh puts his hand in my path.
With an evil smirk of my own that he can't see, I grab his hand and go to lift myself from the water. Josh pulls but I grab the ladder in my free hand and push my feet on the step giving me leverage, I pull hard and cause Josh to fall into the water back first as he flips unwillingly.
I laugh and get back on the boat, Jade and Samuel hold their stomachs laughing. "Get him boys." I laugh and they run then jump off the boat, cannon balling right by Josh before splashing him with more water as they resurface. More laughter pours from me as Jade and Samuel push Josh under the water before they swim off when Josh says he is going to get them both before they pushed him down again.
My hands make it to the bottom of my dress and pull it over my head before throwing it over the back of the chair to dry out. My two piece swim suite, a emerald green with gold design shining in the sunlight. A smirk on my face as my eyes catch Josh with his mouth open. "You're going to catch a dragonfly that way."
Josh shakes his head then spins in the water to chase after Samuel and Jade.
This is the perfect thing I needed today with the headache finally gone.
