"Add a pinch of salt." I huff after reading the instructions. "I hate that. What is a pinch to some? Because that could be taken vastly out of context. Do people do the pinch like a finger and thumb or do they do the pinch with thumb and two fingers?"My hand slaps my head lightly. With a glance over, I pick up my phone and call Kaira. She is the cooker and could answer that question for me, I hope.
'Just a simple pinch finger and thumb works.' Kaira explains after we passed the greetings and I got right to asking her the question. 'What are you making?'
"It is supposed to be a chicken dish with creamy sauce. Then I got steamed vegetables for the side dish along with some jasmine rice."
'Now depending on the sauce you may not need the salt unless you like it.'
"Not really our thing." I sigh and then explain the sauce details over the phone.
'You could forgo it then. The base will help to nuetralize the acids involved, so that it doesn't become overly salty.'
"Thanks."
'Anytime.' Kaira and I then hang up and I get back to cooking dinner.
The front door opens and I turn to look just as I put the chicken into the pan to dry off from it's natural juices while baking in the oven.
"Have fun?" I laugh seeing Josh and Jade walk in.
"So much fun Aunt Rachel. Today I mastered the monkey bars!" Jade jumps once.
"That is great." I smile and glance at Josh. "Why don't you go shower and dinner will be done by then."
Jade nods and bounces off to his room then comes out with clean clothes in his arms before entering the bathroom. With the door closed, Josh steps over to me and kisses me deep, making our tongues dance. I push him back as my nose takes in his pungent scent, so I hold my nose and wave him off. "You need a shower too."
Josh chuckles and nods. "We got hot and sweaty at the park, but I did get these pictures for you to see Jade on the monkey bars."
"He has been trying to master those without falling off for so long. Normally, by the second bar he falls and I am not athletically inclined to help show him how to do those." I laugh lightly and smile looking at the pictures.
"How was girl day?"
"So much fun. We had a spa trip." I turn back to my sauce on the burner briefly before looking to Josh. "I washed the clothes you wore yesterday that were here. You know where the towels are." A smirk on my face, Josh laughs once again before he kisses my cheek and turn for my room with the master bath.
I work on finishing up dinner when Jade walks in. "Need help?"
With a smile I nod. "Can you grab the plates please?" Jade nods and gets to setting the table.
Chuckles and Princess are lounging on the cat tree just watching everything from their corner in the living room. It took some time but they have both learned not to be within the kitchen while cooking or eating is happening. Although the main area to work on is Chuckles joining me in my showers, little girl knows how to climb and get to the door knob by the bathroom to open the door.
"It smells so good in here." Josh walks in with a smile.
"I hope it tastes as good." I laugh. "Could you help me after dinner? I need to move the dresser to the opposite wall."
Josh nods. "I will tend to it so you're not lifting anything to heavy."
I plate out the food and Jade grabs bottles of water and I frown but know I have to drink plain water too. Taking a bite of the chicken, it melts in my mouth at the tenderness of the meat and the sauce just adds to the deliciousness. So thankful for calling Kaira and talking with her or else I fear it definitely would have been to salty. My eyes take in as Josh and Jade both eat the food quickly with smiles on their faces.
"Are you even tasting it?" I can't help but tease and they nod quickly.
"This has to be the best you have made yet." Josh moves his fork over the chicken.
"Josh is right." Jade replies in between bites of food.
"Don't forget your vegetables." I point to Jade and he sighs with an eye roll. "Jade."
"I will." Jade sighs and takes one small bite before going right back to the other food and taking a roll from the center plate.
Dinner is finished within a short time and I start to gather the plates but Jade cuts in. "I got them."
I raise an eyebrow and Josh shoo's me out of the kitchen too. So with a huff, I sit on the couch and flip the tv on finding my show that I have began watching slowly over time. A bit of a soap but the drama is to good to stop, even if you wonder who is going to be the next one with another co-worker type thing. A go-to of not watching my crime shows.
Whispering catches my attention as my fingers run over Chuckles fur, with a turn of my head I smile wide. Josh and Jade stand at the sink while cleaning the dishes and talking quietly. Every so often Josh nods and then Jade will nod back to something Josh says.
Josh joins me on the couch and wraps his arm around my shoulders. "Where is Jade?"
"His room. He is playing an online game with Samuel."
I nod and laugh. "He loves having that option when they aren't spending the night there or having Samuel here."
We watch more of the show and Josh leans over. His finger trailing over my collarbone before moving down to craddle my small bump.
"Kaira and Kate were talking about baby shopping today."
Josh chuckles and nods. "They enjoy shopping."
"I had enjoy it today too. Got Jade's birthday gifts plus I may have gotten something for myself."
"Really?" Josh smirks and I nod.
Leaning to his ear, "I am wearing it."
Josh groans lightly and leans his head back. As soon as I got home, I changed into a sexy lace lavendar number that has very coverage, more like it barely covers anything. "Stay the night?" I whisper in his ear and Josh nods quickly.
"As if I could go home knowing that little information."
I giggle lightly before curling into his side and tracing patterns on his jean cladded thigh.
