Jade is over the moon when he learns of Rachel having a baby. Though he promises not to let Samuel know until Rachel and I are able to tell them.As we all eat on the macaroons, my mind reels over the idea of proposing to Rachel again. The main question is when? All through the time I cooked dinner I had thought of it and my feelings.
I love Rachel with my entire heart.
So the steps to go through is telling her how much I love her. Then proposing. Should it be on the same night? I have no clue but I would think that would be great for a speech before popping the question. Again.
"Josh." Jade gets up from the chair and I look up to him. "Ready to play and see who can win the race tonight?"
"Let me help clean up the kitchen."
"I got this. You cooked." Rachel waves her hands and I get up from the chair. I already knew better than to argue with her.
Jade begins the game and I sit with the controller. Time passes by and Rachel joins us in the living room reading a book. Eventually, Jade begins to yawn and his gaming focus slows. I place my controller down and Jade turns the game off bidding us a goodnight.
Rachel places her book on the side table by the chair and tries to hide her yawn. I chuckle and walk over to her, Princess jumps from her lap and I pull Rachel up into my arms.
I kiss her lips and she leans into my body. A hum coming from her and I hold her tight to me. "Are you staying tonight?" Rachel whispers as we break the kiss.
I pull back and frown lightly. "I don't have any clothes."
Rachel sighs and nods with a sad frown on her face. I lift her chin back up to mine and kiss her once more, my tongue diving into her mouth to taste her before breaking the kiss.
"Today was amazing." I whisper against her lips.
"I'm so happy we are having a baby." Rachel smiles and kisses me again before we break away.
"I will see you tomorrow." I smile and kiss her forehead.
"Actually, I don't work in the morning. Regina is going to be there, someone is going to be fixing one of the coolers."
I smile and nod. "See you at lunch then?"
"I will bring us something." Rachel smiles.
I walk to the door and she follows me. Tugging my shirt, I turn and kiss her lips once more before we break apart and I walk to my truck. Rachel waves and closes the front door as I leave.
At the stop sign, I sigh and dial Erik's number.
'Hey Josh. What are you up to this time of night?'
"I need some advice."
'You can come over if you want. The boys are in bed.'
"On my way." I smile and turn right, making it to his and Kaira's house in no time.
Kaira opens the door and hugs me tight as I walk up the steps. "What's going on?"
I sigh as she closes the front door and Erik gives a one arm bro hug. "I proposed to Rachel today."
Kaira claps quietly and jumps up and down with a wide smile on her face. "That is so great."
"Not really. I messed it up and big time." I let out a deep breath of air and she stops moving to frown.
Erik blows out a breath of air. "How could you mess up?"
I swallow and rub the back of my neck. "I proposed while we were inside the clinic during her appointment and she said no."
"Is she okay?" Kaira frowns.
A smile makes way on my face. "She is pregnant."
"What!" Kaira whisper shouts the covers her mouth to muffle her small scream of excitement.
"Wait. Did you propose because she is having your baby?" Erik crinkles his forehead as his arms are crossed.
"No." I defend myself. "Rachel had declined because of that. Saying we should share the 'I love you' first."
"That's a pretty important part." Erik chuckles.
I grab my arm as pain radiates down my muscles. "Ow!" I move from my sisters reach. "What was that for?" I rub the area her small balled up fist hit.
"You are a major loon that's why! Now I see why she said that because she is right. Do you even have a ring or just asked it?" Kaira crosses her arms.
"I hadn't gotten a ring yet. It just sort of happened to come out." I let my arm go as I sigh once again. "Now I'm not sure if she will even accept my proposal in the future."
Kaira scoffs but doesn't get to reply as small footsteps sound and Simon walks from the hallway area. I bend down and he runs over to my arms.
"First start with telling her how you feel." Erik pats my back. "Then look for a ring."
"But don't tell her you love her the day you propose. Give it some time in between, Josh." Kaira smiles and Erik places an arm around her shoulder.
"Make it a special moment when you tell her you love her then another romantic time to propose. It will help to show her it isn't just because of the baby that you popped the question." Erik finishes.
"Just from the small times I've seen you guys at the Diner, the love it there." Kaira smiles softly. "Kate even mentioned it on the love eyeballs you both send to each other. The times you talk about her, anyone can see and hear the feelings you have for Rachel."
I nod and Simon's breathing is even as his head is on my shoulder. Kaira takes him from my arms and he stays sleeping as she walks to the hallway with him.
"Thanks man." I pat Erik's back and walk out the front door.
"Josh." Erik stops me and I turn looking back. "I'm happy for you and Rachel." He smiles and I mirror it before turning around and getting in my truck.
My mind reeling over what I could do for a huge romantic date to tell Rachel how I much I love her. There is so much inside my chest that loves her it hurts and I just want to spend all my time with her. But what romantic way to tell her?
