54. Middle Name

Penelope is officially three days old. We got to come home the very next day and things have been so amazing.

Jade loves his cousin so much. Just last night as he held her, Josh and I heard him tell Penelope all about her Aunt, his mom. I teared up while listening to him tell her about how he knows his mommy is watching over her and so happy that she carries her name.

I cried a little for the first time this morning, as I talked to my sister and parents while looking at our very last family photo before I lost my parents. Hoping and wishing they could be here to meet her. Penelope slept in her bassinet while I sip some tea looking at the picture.

Penelope's middle name is special too. Which we hadn't told anyone yet. Today is the day we plan to tell everyone as we are hosting a large dinner to spend time with everyone.

Everyone close to us as came to visit Penelope and me. So many smiles and so many more gifts. The house smells of flowers and I placed them in the top shelves where Princess and Chuckles isn't able to reach those.

The oil sizzles in the pan as I stir the onions just checking to see if they are a light carmel. Josh walks from the pantry and places more food on the counter top. "How are those onions?"

"Close." I smile and he wraps his hands around my waist. "You need to start on those roasted vegetables if they was going to be ready by the time the rack of lamb is done."

Josh kisses my cheek and lets me go before turning to the counter behind us. My eyes cast over to see Penelope sleeping soundly in her bassinet. Jade at the table right next to her working on the laptop to type up a science report.

"How is the lamb?" I ask as the sauce for the top of the lamb is simmering on a low heat.

"Close to being done." Josh smiles as he wipes his hands on a towel after washing.

A knock on the door, has Josh and I walking hand in hand to open it. "Hi." I smile wide as Kaira, Erik, Samuel, and Simon stand on the other side. Kate and Fran coming up behind them and I see as Saul and Regina pull in the drive. Josh's parents wasn't able to drive in again after coming in the day after Penelope was born.

"You are looking phenomal. I am so jealous." Kaira laughs.

"I bet you looked just as great." I hug her tight.

"Trust me, I didn't." She laughs and walks in the house.

I hug everyone else and see that Jade is on the couch with Samuel and Simon. Kaira holds Penelope as Regina and Fran surround her.

I walk up to Kate and smile. "How are you doing?"

"Doing well." Kate smiles and hugs me again. "Fran and I finally picked a donor. The doctor wants to run a couple tests then it will be time for us to start the journey for me getting pregnant."

"So exciting." I rub her arm.

"I am a bit nervous."

"I am sure you will fly through it with a breeze."

Kate laughs. "If I need help then I know where to go between Kaira and you." I join her laugh and nod.

"I will be happy to help anyway I can."

"We really should have been the ones to bring in food and not you two cooking." Erik and Regina grumble together.

"No." Josh laughs. "Rachel and I wanted to cooked the meal today and invite everyone over."

I smile as Princess rubs my leg and Chuckles has found arms to hold her to get her pets as Samuel smiles wide. Princess leaves me and prances over to Simon who squeals and pets her with gentle touches as Erik watches him closely.

"Dear, you need to sit." Regina looks over and makes a dash for me as Fran and her take a arm and drag me away from Josh as he laughs, while I get sat into the large chair.

Penelope cries and Josh is quick to make a bottle for her, which Fran took and fed Penelope.

"I haven't got a turn to feed her." Kate whines quietly.

"Me either." Erik laughs.

"I am sure there is plenty of time for you both to be able too." I giggle.

Once Penelope is fed and burped she is switched to another person. With everyone here there is no use of the bassinet and I soak in the moments of everyone's smiles. My heart burst though when Penelope is laid in Jade's arms, Samuel's, and even little Simon got a short turn as he sat on the couch. The food is ate with many compliments. Erik, Josh, and Saul tended to the dishes while telling the rest of us to enjoy relaxing.

Josh sits on the back of the couch above me as I notice Kaira holds Penelope. I look up to him and he winks with a smirk.

"We would like to share with everyone Penelope's full name. As you know she takes her first name from my sister that passed. Josh and I have decided her middle name."

Everyone looks at me and I smile. "Penelope Kaira."

Kaira gasps and looks down at my daughter while rocking her lightly. She whispers and then looks up to us with tears in her eyes. "Thank you both so much."

Josh stands and walks over, Erik takes Penelope and Josh hugs his sister. "We wanted her name to resemble both sides of her family." Kaira walks over and hugs me tight.

"I am going to spoil her so much." Kaira rubs her hands.

"Um, you will have to get in line." Kate puts her hands on her hips with a smirk.

"I think I will out beat you both." Regina cackles.

"My wife may have a point." Saul chuckles as he holds Princess.

"Actually." Jade smiles. "The cousins will win this and spoil her the most. We will even play princess tea party with her."

We all laugh and everyone says the cousins will win. The night wears on and everyone bids a night before leaving, Jade sits on the couch with a video game as Josh joins him as they race. I hold Penelope as she feeds and her eyes looking into mine.

My finger traces her little face as she sleeps after burping and I can't stop the smile.
