A Way Out

Hello, Goodbye

We all sat around a fire place, me and Thomas side by side. 

"I thought we were immune?" Minho said. 

"Not all of us I guess," Newt said, "If Winston can get infected, we should assume the rest of us can." 

We all sat in silence and I slowly slid down and laid my back against Thomas's legs. I looked over at Minho who was already looking at me. 

"Never thought I'd say this but-" Fry said, "I miss the Glade." 

I sighed and nodded. 

We all slept there for the night and in the mroning we were on the move again. We kept walking but it was hot, sunny, dry, and sand was everywhere. I had thrown my shirt off and stuffed it into my bag. Leaving me in my sports bra and cargo pants with a scarf tied around my waist for another sandstorm. 

We all kept walking until we physically couldn't anymore. We sat down and I laid my head on my pack as we all slept. I pretty much wasn't sleeping and heard in a hoarse voice, "Hey, hey!" My eyes opened and Thomas said, "Lights." I looked at what he was talking about and saw a bunch of lights. 

"We made it." Newt said. Almost on que, lighting sounded. 

We all turned towards the sound and saw a strike of lighting.

"Let's go, we gotta go c'mon!" Thomas urged. 

We all picked up our stuff as another Lighting strike struck and Minho grabbed my hand and we ran. We ran like hell as lighting struck left and right. We all yelled for us to keep moving as we neared the lights. Lighting struck right next to Minho and I and we picked up the pace. 

we kept running and Minho looked up and said, "Kendra!" and pushed me and I fell to the ground almost at the exact same time lightning struck Minhp. 

"No!" I yelled. I lunged at his body and covered him with my own body. 

Thomas ran over and yelled, "We gotta move him let's go!" Tears were streaming down my face as we lifted him up and carried him inside. 

We laid him down and I kneeled down next to him and cupped his face with my hands. "Minho!" I said, "Hey Minho wake up please." I was sobbing and said, "Minho I swear to go if you don't fucking wake up right now I will bring you back to life to kill you myself!" 

"Minho!" Thomas said. "Minho?" Newt added. 

"God dammit wake the fuck up!" I said and slapped him across the face.

He groaned and his eyes opened and he said, "Ow." 

I laughed and lunged at him, hugging him. He wrapped an arm around me, using the other to hold himself up. I cried and he said, "I'm okay." 

I pulled away and looked at him with teary eyes and he wiped my tears and said, "What happened?" 

"You got struck by lightning." Thomas explained. 

"Oh." Minho said. 

I chuckled and he smiled at me. We helped him up and he groaned. He collected himself and Teresa said, "What's that smell?" 

Suddenly a creature, the same ones that attacked Winston, lunged out at her and she screamed and jumped backwards. Another thing jumped out at us and Minho pulled me close to him. 

"I see you've met our guard dogs." A girl said. She walked through the line of creatures and looked at us. "You guys look like shit. come on, follow me," she said, but when she realized us none of us were moving she added, "Unless you wanna stay here with them?"
