A Way Out

Reality

- Kendras POV -

It was hard to even think straight after how much blood thye just took from me. But I knew I wasn't going crazy. I heard my name being called. 

"Kendra? Where are you?" I heard Thomas yell. 

"Kendra!" I heard minho yell. 

"Doctor, she's coming out of it" someone said as I slowly opened my eyes. 

"Get me another sedative," Someone ordered. 

Someone shone a flashlight in my eyes and I opened them and slammed the pin I had taken into his leg. He fell to the ground and the guard attacked me and I kicked him off me, he went flying into a cart and I hopped up and a doctor lunged at me and i punched him in the face and he fell to the floor. The guard stood up and I ran at him and jumped and kicked him and he fell to the floor and I landed back down and took his gun. 

I ran through the halls and saw guards and people rushing. I ran as fast as I could taking down anyone who stood in my way. I saw two guards at the end of the hall and ran over and kicked one clean off his feet and the other I elbowed in the gut then grabbed him by the neck from behind and threw him onto his back. 

I stood up and looked down at them and heard, "Kendra?" 

I looked up and saw Minho and Thomas. My mouth gaped and they ran over to me. Tears welled in my eyes as I hugged both of them and Minho cupped my face in his hands and studied me. "What did they do to you?" He muttered, taking in my appearance. 

I gave him a soft smile and then look at Thomas and he hugged me and I said, "This is real right?" 

He chuckled and said, "Yes. Very much real." 

A tear fell down my face and then we saw two more guards come towards us and we took off. We ran down the halls and saw Janson so we ran into a room and locked the door. 

"Thomas c'mon," Minho said and he flipped a metal tray so the door would be blocked.  

We looked around the room and Thomas swore. We heard a whirring sound and realized they were using a saw to open the door. I looked to the two guys and Minho grabbed my hand and we backed up. 

"Any ideas?" Minho asked. 

We turned and looked at Thomas and he said, "Maybe." 

Thomas and Minho threw the gas tank out the window and the glass shattered and we watched the tank land in the water below us.  

"Okay, it's doable." Thoma said, looking at us but I saw Minho give him a very questionable look and I did the same, "Just need a little running start," Thomas said and he backed up and Minho and I exchanhged a look. 

Minho grabbed my hand as we backed up and he looked to Thomas, "You sure about this?" He asked. 

"Not really," Thomas answered. 

"Nice pep talk baby bro." I said. 

"We're twins!" He said.

I smirked and said, "Nah, found out I'm a minute older than you." 

He narrowed his eyes at me and the door opened and we all turned and Thomas swore and we all jumped, Minho never letting go of my hand and he yelled, "Thomas!" 

"Oh shit!" I yelled and braced for impact as we fell into the water. I came back up and so did Thomas and Minho and I looked up at Janson and so did Thomas and we flipped him off at the same time and janson shook his head. 

We swam out and Thomas and Minho got out and then helped me out. 

Minho grabbed my face in his hands and said, "Are you alright?" i nodded and went to speak when we heard the clicking of guns. We all turned and saw four guards holding their guns to us. "You three, don't move." One said. 

"You gotta be kidding me." I said. 

Minho grabbed my hand and the guards instructed us to surrender when one of the guards shot the other three. I furrowed my brows and the guard took his mask off and I saw- "Gally?" I said, in disbelief. 

"Hey Kendra." He said, then his eyes connected with Minho and I's interlocked fingers and he said, "Hm. figures." I looked at Minho then Gally and ran over and hugged him. 

"You dumb shank." I said. 

He chuckled and said, "Okay C'mon we gotta go."  

We started to run towards the exit and we saw Newt already hiding behind a pillar. I saw him and ran over and hugged him, "Good to see you love." He said and I sighed and squeezed him tighter. 

He coughed a little a I pulled away, "How ya feeling?" Thomas asked. 

"It isn't working Tommy." Newt said. He held up his sleeve and I saw the virus. I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand. 

"We will find you a cure." I reassured him and he nodded. 

We kept running and hid behind to little walls, we heard screeching of cars and Gally said, "Well, they're definitely pissed." 

"How far to the tunnels?" Thomas asked. 

"Maybe 12 blocks from here." Gally answered

Newt started coughing again and I ran a hand up and down his back in a soothing manner.  

"We can make it." Gally reassured and nodded. 

Minho crouched down infront of Newt and said, "Newt? How ya feeling?" 

Newt groaned and chuckled, "Terrible." 

"We gotta go," Thomas said and walked over to us, "Hey Newt, let's get you up bud." Newt stumbled and I caught him, keeping his balance. 

"You okay?" I asked. Newt nodded. 

I heard an explosion and turned and saw fire erupting in the distance. "They were suppose to take down WCKD, not the whole damn city." Gally muttered. 

I looked at Newt for a second before it registered. "Brenda." I said, they turned towards me and I said, "She's okay right?" They nodded and I said, "I need to go back in there," I nodded towards the WCKD building and Minho shook his head. 

He walked over to me and said, "You are not going back in there." 

"Minho listen to me, at the right arm, Thomas and I's blood mixed to create a cure for Brenda. She's all better now, right?" I said. 

Minho nodded and I said, "So I need to find someone who can make that cure again." 

His jaw tightened and Gally said, "I'll get Newt out of here." He ran away and Thomas said, "I'm coming with you, meet me by the door." 

I nodded and looked back towards Minho. He placed his hands on my hips and I placed mine on his chest. We touched foreheads and he said, "I can't lose you. Not again." 

"You won't. I promise" I said. 

"Yeah but- just incase-" He said before his lips connected with mine. 

I kissed him with everything in me and I wished we could just stay in this moment forever. I wish I didn't have to go and risk my life and I wish he didn't have to go risk his. I wish that we could be normal teenagers, even if it is just for one second longer. So we hold eachother until we need to face reality. I open my eyes and my hands came to his face and he grabbed one of my hands with his before pulling our foreheads away from eachother and still holding my hand. 

"Don't die Kenny." He said. 

I smiled and said, "It'll take more than this to kill me." 

He nodded and I dropped his hand and ran back inside WCKD.
