A Way Out

Ben swung an arm around me as we all laughed waiting for the box to come up.

"I hope it's a girl." I mumbled. Ben and Minho gasped and Minho said, "What are we not enough for you?" 

I rolled my eyes, "It would just be nice to y'know not have to share a damn room with a guy." 

Minho rolled his eyes, "You love us and you know it Kenny." 

I bit the inside of my cheek to stop from smiling, "Yeah yeah whatever."

Kenny is the name Minho gave me on my second day in the Glade when he accidentally introduced me to the runners as 'Kenny', and so now that's just what he calls me.

Ben took his arm off me and messed up my hair. I scrunch my nose and attempt to fix my hair- but there was really no use I would be running in a little bit anyway.

The box finally came up and I pushed to the front next to Newt. he looked to me and raised his brows and I smiled.

As Gally opened the box, and we saw the boy inside I felt a churning in my stomach but I wasn't sure why. The Greenie was quick to hop out of the box and we all looked at him and I pushed him as a joke and he locked eyes with me and I got a flash in my mind. 

There were blue screens and a woman "Wicked is good." she whispered 

And my eyes opened and I saw the boys eyes again and I gasped. His mouth gaped and he took of running. "Wait!" I yelled. and Zart yelled, "We got a runner!"

"Bloody hell-" Newt said and I took off after the kid. 

He was fast but I was a runner for a reason. I caught up to him and lunged at him and he fell to the ground when I caught him by his feet. he groaned and kicked me off him and I lunged at him again and pinned his hands to either side of his head. He coughed and looked at me and i narrowed my eyes at him.

 "Who are you?" I mumbled.

 "Kendra?" He said. I gasped and suddenly was thrown off him. 

"Hey hey hey- what's going on?" Alby asked.

 I turned and saw Minho with his hands on my shoulders. I looked at him and he furrowed his brows, "Kendra? What happened?" Newt asked me and I turned back to him and the boy.

 I swallowed a lump in my throat and said, "Throw him in the pit." And with that I walked away from everyone.

A little later, Ben, Minho, and I were exiting the maze. It was not a fun run. Ben and Minho maybe asked me ten thousand times what happened today but I couldn't even believe it myself so I told them to let it go. But as we were exiting, we saw Chuck with the Greenie. 

"New Greenie? How's it feel to be promoted Chuck?" Ben asked.

"Feels great Ben." Chuck answered. I locked eyes with the boy and another flash went through my mind 

"I will always keep you safe little sis." A boy said and handed me a necklace.

I snapped back to reality and my hands fell to my necklace that was the same one from the memory. It was a gold necklace with a dove.

Once Ben, Minho, and I made it back to the hut, we began to discuss our routes and map what we saw and such. Nothing new, like always, but there still had to be hope in the Glade, so we told everyone we were exploring a new area tomorrow.

As I sat next to Minho around the bonfire, I locked eyes with the Greenie again. My hand fell to my necklace again and his eyes went wide before he whispered something to Newt and Newt looked at me and smiled and said something to the boy.

 "I have a weird feeling about him." I said to Minho, motioning to the new arrival.

 Minho followed my gaze and said, "You just need to fight someone." 

I rolled my eyes and he smirked, "C'mon," He said and grabbed my and and led me over to where Gally threw another kid to the ground.

"Ah, I was waiting for when you would come over Kendra!" Gally said. 

I smiled and rolled my eyes, "My knee has been hurting Gally maybe I should-" I was cut off by someone bumping into me and I saw the new Greenie.

 I narrowed my eyes and said, "Actually. I want to take on Greenie." 

The new kid looked at me and said, "Are- you sure I don't want to hurt you-" 

I backed up and swung my jacket off leaving me in my tank top and threw it to Minho. Minho groaned and Newt said, "It's not her you should worry about getting hurt."

I smirked at the kid and said, "Lets see what you've got Greenie." 

He sighed and i got in a fighting stance and he did the same. we circled each other and he came at me and I sweeped his feet and he fell on the floor. 

He groaned and turned around and grabbed my ankle and kicked my feet out from under- "I knew to go for your ankles." He said and I snapped towards him. 

How the hell would he know my ankles are my weak spot? "What?" I asked.

I made my way over to him and he lunged at me and i laid him out and crawled over him and pinned his hands to either side of his head. I locked eyes with him and I got a flash. 

I was pinning a younger boys hands to either side of his head and he said, "No fair Kendra!" "Give me back mr waffles!" I said but It wasn't my voice.

I snapped back and realized a tear fell down my face. I crawled away from him and said in a low voice, "Thomas?" 

His eyes went wide and he said, "My name is Thomas! I'm Thomas!"

 I stared at him in shock and Alby yelled, "Thomas!" and everyone cheered. 

Thomas helped me up and I said, "Thanks Tommy." His eyes went wide and so did mine but before either of us could say anything he was swept away.

Who the hell is this kid and how do I know him?
