53 Morning Make-out

On the first day of staying in the castle, I had thought it would be hard for me to fall asleep.

To my surprise, I fell asleep quickly and slept soundly.

The last time I fell asleep so quickly was because I was exhausted after leaving the banquet, but this time, I guessed it might be because I had Louis by my side.

The morning sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting patches of light onto the bedsheets. I lay on the bed, lazily stretching my hand out into the sunlight. The golden spots danced on my fingertips, and I couldn't help but curve my lips into a smile as I snuggled closer to Louis.

Unusually, he didn't wake up earlier than me today.

Quietly, I turned my head and gazed at his sharply handsome face, feeling a serene sense of contentment.

Since childhood, I had a thought: when I clenched my fist, it felt like I could catch a ray of sunlight in my palm. Later, I realized it was just a fantasy. But now, looking at him lying next to me, asleep with his golden hair scattered on the pillow, I felt like I had fulfilled that childhood wish.

I had truly grasped a ray of sunshine that belonged to me.

I lightly ran my fingers through his golden locks, and after a moment, unable to resist the impulse in my heart, I leaned over and placed a soft kiss on his lips.

I was like a squirrel that had sneaked into a home to steal nuts while the owner slept, and once successful, I immediately wanted to retreat. But at that moment, a large hand clasped around my neck.

Louis opened his bright blue eyes, looking at me with a hint of amusement. There was no sign of sleepiness in his eyes, and it was evident he had been awake for quite some time.

I felt a bit embarrassed instantly, "You tricked me! When did you wake up?"

"Not too long ago." Louis's voice carried a hint of lazy drowsiness, and he drawled, "Right when you decided to play Sleeping Beauty and secretly kiss me."

"I did not..."

I tried to defend myself, but it seemed that Louis wasn't interested in hearing my excuses. He gave a low laugh, cupped the back of my head, and leaned down to give me a deep kiss.

This kiss was wet, warm, and lingering. It wasn't passionate, but it left an irresistible feeling.

I felt like I was enveloped by a bear's embrace. Louis's arms were warm and broad. He was like a guardian, shielding me from the troubles of insomnia.

"I'm in trouble," I moaned. "I think in the future, I won't be able to sleep if you're not here."

Louis was amused by my statement.

He used his fingers to gently tap my nose, deliberately wearing a slightly troubled expression, "What should we do then?"

I snorted, "What should we do? Of course—punish you by making you be my sleeping toy every night from now on!"

I suddenly flipped over and sat on him, picking up a pillow and pressing it against his head. Louis protested, saying that this behavior was disrespectful to royal dignity, but I could clearly hear the hearty laughter in his voice.

We playfully tussled on the bed for a while before finally getting up, slightly out of breath.

"Alfred won't say anything, right?"

I looked at the feathers scattered on the bedroom floor, asking a bit nervously.

"I think he's already used to it," Louis cleared his throat.

We exchanged a glance and burst into laughter simultaneously.

I drew back the bedroom curtains, revealing the dense forest and clear lake outside the window. The morning breeze tousled my hair as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

What a nice day!

"Do you like it?"

Louis's voice came from beside my ear. I was about to nod when his hand wrapped around my waist from behind. His other hand covered the hand I had resting on the windowsill. He rested his head on my shoulder, lazily embracing me like a koala.

"What are you going to do?" While I enjoyed this peaceful moment, I hadn't forgotten to inquire about our plans.

"To celebrate the return of the heir. According to tradition, I will be hosting a grand ball in the Forest Castle soon," he said to me, "and you will attend as my date, Claire."

I immediately grew nervous.

"Do I have to dance too?" I asked anxiously, "But the last time I attended a dance was at my high school graduation, and I think I've forgotten most of those dance steps."

"It's okay," Louis smiled, "before the ball, I'll teach you how to dance, step by step — as a personal tutor, huh?"

I could hardly believe he remembered that movie. I ground my teeth and couldn't hold back any longer. I used my bare foot to give his left foot a hard stomp.

"You don't want to?" He asked.

"No," I deadpanned, "as long as you don't take advantage of the opportunity to touch me... Stop!"

He took this opportunity to start tickling me!

I laughed so hard that I curled up, and he even picked me up and tossed me onto the soft bed.

An hour and a half later, under Alfred's watchful eyes, Louis and I finally managed to leave the bedroom, despite the bed being still in disarray.

"It's all your fault," I couldn't help but blame him, "I can't even imagine what kind of image I have in Alfred's eyes now."

"It's alright," Louis comforted me, "he'll definitely think I've been a bad influence on you."

I tried to suppress the curve of my lips but failed in the end.

"Are you serious about teaching me to dance?" Even though it was Louis himself who said those words, I still found it hard to believe, "You're so busy, so why not just hire a dance instructor for me?"

"Although I'm busy, I'm not so swamped that I can't spare any personal time," Louis said, "Besides, I haven't inherited the throne yet, and many matters are still decided by the Council of Elders. I do have quite a bit of free time now."

But I didn't think so at all. Before we moved here, I often saw the study's lights in the villa burning late into the night.

"Don't worry about me," Louis touched my cheek, he seemed to have taken a liking to this gesture of affection lately, "My physical fitness is Alpha among Alphas. Even with only four hours of sleep per day, I'm still full of energy."

"Okay."

I finally agreed to his decision.

But before I could express my gratitude, he turned his head and looked at me with a playful smile, "So, should you be calling me Mr. Teacher now?"
