Maria's POV

After admiring my beauty in the mirror, I glanced sideways at Andy, who was leaning against the door.

At the moment, he was idly kicking the carpet by the door, looking utterly bored, which annoyed me to no end.

"Have you remembered everything I told you to do?"

"Of course, my queen."

Andy impatiently rolled his eyes, but upon noticing my icy gaze, he quickly approached me, trying to sweet-talk his way back into my favor.

"Didn't I remember every word you said? Come on, stop frowning, give me a kiss, my beauty." "Get lost!"

I pushed Andy away with disgust, glaring at him as he stumbled a few steps before regaining his balance.

"You almost ruined my carefully prepared makeup."

"Hah, carefully prepared?" My rejection made Andy embarrassed and angry. "You only dress up like this when you go to see Louis, right? Too bad, he only has eyes for—"

"Shut up!"

I snapped at Andy angrily, slamming the wooden comb on the vanity.

The comb broke with a sound.

"Never, ever mention that woman's name in front of me again. Understand?"

My cold fury silenced Andy, who nodded hesitantly, showing a fearful expression.

But that didn't satisfy me.

"Speak!"

Andy swallowed hard, trembling as he replied, "Yes, Your Highness."

"That's better."

I withdrew my icy gaze, slowly walking over to Andy.

In his frightened eyes, I flashed a charming smile and grabbed his slightly trembling hand, my tone softening.

"I heard that for some reason, the guards at the castle have suddenly become very strict. So, I have to dress up elegantly yet conservatively to make Louis and that woman believe that I have a legitimate reason to go to the castle. Only by doing this can I create an opportunity for you to successfully steal that letter. Do you understand, Andy?"

My display of vulnerability instantly ensnared the foolish man.

With gratitude in his eyes, Andy tightly held my hand.

"Of course, Maria. I knew everything you do is for me, just as I'm willing to do anything for you." "Right."

Seeing Andy take the bait, I let go of his hand.

"Then wait quietly by the southwest wall of the castle later. My people will be there to assist you and get you into the castle. Once you have the letter, leave immediately by the same route.

 Understood?"

"What about you, Maria?"

Andy frowned, approaching me again with a worried tone.

"Aren't you leaving with me? I don't feel comfortable leaving you alone there."

"Don't be silly."

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and smiled reassuringly. "I'm the future queen, entering and leaving the castle is my prerogative. No one will dare to harm me. You just need to get the letter, don't worry about anything else, understand?"

Andy looked somewhat sullen, but still nodded obediently. "Okay."

For me, as long as this naive and foolish boy could be useful, who cares why he's unhappy!

With that in mind, I gave this annoying tool his marching orders. "Go wait for me in the car, Andy. I'll be out soon."

After speaking, I took out another comb from the drawer and began styling my hair.

Although Andy was foolish, he was right about one thing. Every time I carefully dressed up, it was for Louis. Since he once considered me his mate, I believed that with my beauty and charm, making that man fall in love with me again wouldn't be too difficult.

As long as I could get rid of that d.amn woman.

At that moment, Claire's youthful and beautiful face flashed in my mind. I narrowed my eyes and gripped the comb with more force.

The comb broke once again.

...

After everything was ready, I lifted my skirt and got into the car.

"Goodness, Maria, you look absolutely dazzling like a goddess!"

When he saw me, Andy's eyes lit up instantly, a reaction that made me couldn't help but smirk. There wasn't a man who didn't like a beautiful woman, and Louis wouldn't be an exception.

However, the fool seemed to misunderstand my smile. He shifted closer to me and raised his arm, seemingly wanting to touch my cheek.

D.amn it, didn't this i.diot realize there was a driver in front of us? He could get us killed!

"Oh, dear Andy, if you keep praising me like this, I'm afraid my face will turn red."

I pretended to be shy, turning my head to avoid Andy's outstretched hand. Then, I glanced at the driver in front, and from the rearview mirror, it seemed that his attention hadn't been on us.

That relieved me a bit.

"Now, drive to the castle." I lazily commanded.

The driver calmly responded and started the car. "Yes, Your Highness." I quickly closed my eyes. And that's how I missed the skeptical glance the driver cast at me and Andy.
