What does he want to do!?
Every pore of my body screamed and trembled. But I quickly realized that I couldn't show any flaws in front of Cathy!
So I shyly lowered my head and whispered to him, "Can we continue this later?"
Because of my position, I didn't see the fleeting smile in Prince Louis' eyes. All I could think about now was how to leave this place with him.
Perhaps the moon goddess heard my plea. After a few seconds of silence, Louis finally spoke with mercy, "Alright, I'll listen to you."
I breathed a sigh of relief. My tense body gradually relaxed. I turned to glance at Cathy and the others present, and for some reason, my mood surprisingly calmed.
"Are you really going with him?" Cathy mustered the courage to ask. She clearly still held fear towards Prince Louis, but her eyes, filled with a mixture of reluctance, jealousy, and some other complex emotions, stared directly at me. She seemed eager to know the nature of our relationship.
"Yes," I answered.
Louis' gaze swept between the two of us.
"I'll wait for you in the car," he said.
But just before leaving, he held my waist and bent down to lightly kiss my cheek.
...This man always does things that make me shy.
I hadn't react when Prince Louis casually said, "But don't keep me waiting for too long. You know, Claire, my patience is not that great, especially at certain specific moments."
The playful smile at the corner of his mouth made my hair stand on end. It was as if a large beast had set its sights on me, and the sense of warmth in my heart disappeared immediately.
Not knowing how to respond, I could only silently watch him leave.
Of course, Cathy also saw his actions. Her eyes flickered for a moment, and she said somewhat cryptically, "Claire, even if you two are mates, he won't be with you."
"What's it to you?" I looked at her coldly. "Your fiancé was just expelled from the pack, and you still have the audacity to care about my love life?"
"I... I was just trying to remind you!"
Cathy's face turned red as she said, "I never really liked Joe. Being with him was just... because I was jealous of you and wanted to steal your fiancé!"
She confessed with self-abandonment. I must admit, this really surprised me.
I thought Cathy would never have the courage to face her green-eyed monster in her entire life.
In light of her honesty, my tone softened slightly as I spoke to her, "Whatever, I don't care about him anymore. In some ways, I should thank you for showing me his true nature."
I paused and furrowed my brow, asking, "But aren't you fated mates? Why don't you like him?"
"No one said fated mates have to like each other," Cathy shrugged indifferently. "For me, Joe is sexually attractive. I like his body, and that's all. The relationship of fated mates makes us crave each other's bodies, but when it comes to love, that's a different story."
That was where my conversation with Cathy ended.
Our relationship was already bad—or rather, it could be described as "hostile." It was a miracle to have a civil conversation with her without getting into an argument.
But Cathy's final words did leave a mark on my heart.
She said that Joe was only sexually attractive to her.
