Chapter 12:

"How could you not even know this thing, Thanatos?" iritableng tanong ni Dabria kay Thanatos na seryosong nakatingin sa harap namin.

"I lost my track, Dabria," tugon ni Señorito. "I checked this place countless times over the past days, at puro patay na hayop lang ang nakita ko."

"Is this just animals to you?" Señora Dabria scoff and fix her facemask. "It's a damn pile of human bodies!"

Bumaba ang tingin ko sa tila bangin malapit sa mansyon kung saan ginanap ang masquerade party. Dito kami dinala ng ilang tauhan ni Lennie nang madakip sila.

I saw a lot of dead human bodies. Ang ilan ay kalansay na. May mga katawan namang butas ang dibdib, wala nang lamang-loob, parang sinadya talagang halukayin ang katawan.

Mas masahol pa, ang ilan ay putol-putol na—mga braso’t binti na hiwa-hiwalay, duguan at nagkakalasug-lasog. Nakakalat iyon na parang laruan na sinira at iniwan. Ang amoy... Dios ko, umaalingasaw ang lansa ng dugo at pagkaagnas ng laman kaya naglakad ako patungo kay Gael na nakasilip sa baba kung saan naroroon si Señorito Ahimoth.

When I get there, I saw Señorito Ahimoth checking the bodies. Nasa gilid siya ng bangin, nakayukod, sinisipat ang bawat bangkay na tila ba may hinahanap.

"What are your findings, Ahimoth?" sigaw ni Señora Dabria habang nakasilip.

"I can't tell, Dabria," tugon ni Señorito Ahimoth bago ayusin ang salaming suot. "But it looks like these bodies have been here for years. The way the flesh has decayed and the bones are exposed suggests they’ve been lying here for a considerable time."

Dahan dahang naglakad si Señorito sa isang parte. Itinaas nya ang kanang kamay at itinuro ang mga kalansay na nakakalat sa gilid niya. "Kung titingnan niyo nang mabuti, mapapansin niyo ang paraan ng pagkakaayos ng mga buto. Hindi lang sila basta itinapon, may partikular na ayos sila. The bodies seem placed with intention, possibly as part of a ritualistic display."

Dabria frowned, her eyes darting  between Ahimoth and the horrific sight below. "Ritualistic?"

"Oo," Ahimoth continued, "The decomposition patterns show signs of an accelerated decay process, which might suggest that these bodies were subjected to unusual conditions, perhaps even chemical exposure. It’s also possible that the bodies were moved here after death, as evidenced by the soil disturbance around them. The lack of scavenger activity around the corpses further supports the idea that they were intentionally placed here, perhaps to deter animals from disturbing them."

Tumango si Señorito Thanatos at binalingan kami ng tingin. "This kind of organized display is often seen in cases involving cult activity or extreme acts of violence. The positioning, the way they are left in this desolate place, all suggest a deep seated purpose behind it, Dabria. Ito rin ang rason kung bakit pinatalsik si Lennie sa academy noon. She was using fresh human beings for her own desire, at kapag nagsawa na siya, she'll use those bodies for her ritualistic beliefs."

"Now, I get it." tumango si Señora Dabriata at tinalikuran ang magkakapatid. "Clean that mess. Make sure it decomposes properly. And Thanatos? Congratulations, nagawa mong magtagal sa ilalim ng buwan nang hindi nasusunog."

Señorito scoff. "I'm properly covered, Dabria." sagot niya kaya muli akong napatingin sa suot nya.

Naka-itim na mahabang coat siya na may guwantes. Itim ang kanyang mga pantalon, nakasuot ng face mask, salamin, at cap. Perpektong natatakpan ang kanyang katawan.

Pagkatapos non ay tumalikod na rin ako at sumunod kay Señora pabalik ng mansyon. Kalaunan ay sumunod din si Gael sakin.

"Alam mo na ba kung anong gagawin mo sa nakuha mong 50 million?"
