💄 VERITY 💄

I wound my fist back and punched Ginny square on the nose. We instantly cried out in pain, but only one of us fell to her knees.

"Hmm, doesn't she look nice on her knees in front of me. Now help your sister up."

Before I did, as her blood flowed, I sternly stared, silently communicating to her. She nodded her head in understanding and I held my hand out. Once we were eye to eye we hugged each other tightly. After parting we linked arms and walked towards our parents. Who were grinning, well her's and my mom were, while dad scowled.

"Verity, my office. Now," dad tossed his head toward the club.

"Yes, dad," I stiffened and my arm fell away from Ginny.

Ginny squeezed me once more as she whispered, "Goodluck babes."

"Thanks," I whispered as I lowered my head while dragging my feet.

As I passed my mom she gave me a pittying grin and followed me inside. After shutting dad's office door, mom sat across the room on the couch.

"If this is about driving off th-."

"I'd like to discuss the shindig. The day after to be precise."

"You wanna know if I've made a decision?"

"If it pleases you. Your ma and I generously gave you a year, to sort it out."

"Is that all, dad? Well, I'd please me to high tail it until I'm far away from you and the boys." I scowled in my seat.

"If so then what's stopping you, babygirl?" Dad quirked an eyebrow as he rested his shoed feet on his desk.

"Drew," mom inserted herself.

"Don't 'Drew', me. It's a valid question our daughter's gonna answer."

"Just...behave."

"Verity? Your brothers and I don't lock you away at night. So why haven't you left?"

"Sneakin' away is the cowards way, neither did you raise one. I'd need my family's blessing, before I could leave."

"Just where would you go?"

"I don't know, I'll leave that to fate."

"How can you expect my blessing when you don't even have a plan?" He scoffed as he set his feet down.

"Dad, life hardly goes to plan, so what good would a plan do anyway?"

"You know the deal. You get yourself a plan and I'll gladly give you my blessing. Until then, I'm sorry, but you're outta luck, sweety," dad crossed his arms and stared at me.

"Bu-."

"No buts, you'll help smooth relations between the us and the Crossroad Demons."

"Drew, no-."

"Huuh, what's their issue now?" I sent my mom an apologetic look for interupting her.
