You just had to try pot and break into that convenient for snacks....
"I-I...Bu-.""What'd you do Verity?" Dad growled as he took a step towards me.
"It's no-."
"Shut it, before you get yourself in trouble," my brother growled as he fisted his hands.
"I'm sorry, but we have to take you in. Read'er, her rights, Grantland," the female commanded as she cuffed me.
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. If you decide to answer questions without an attorney present, you will still have the right to silence any time, until you talk to an attorney. Do you understand the rights, I have explained to you? With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak?"
"I understand the rights you've said to me," I answered then clamped my lips together.
"Good girl, honey. We'll follow and have you home in no time."
I simply nodded to my mom before I was marched outside to the patrol car. The ride to the police station though only a thirty minute drive, seemed to go for hours. I did manage to twist around and see my parents truck tailing us, though.
Here's hoping I'll get bailed out....
My musings were interrupted by the vehicle's door opening. It had to be his first day as the male officer was gentle as he guided me out of the car. The female officer grabbed my other arm and escorted me inside past cops at their desks. They led me to a counter where another officer set out an ink pad and napkins. The female uncuffed me then the male printed me. Once my fingers were clean they took me over to a height marker and handed me a playcard. Afterwards I was brought to an empty jail cell without a murmur from either cop. Over the course of an hour I sat, paced, took a nap and paced some more. Finally I heard footsteps, but stayed on the bench, hoping I looked stoic.
"Jayne, you got a visitor," the female cop from before announced and I opened my eyes in excitement.
Standing behind the officer were my parents and West.
"Mom, dad!" I jumped to my feet and rushed to the cell bars.
"How are you doing, baby?" Mom placed her fingers to my cheek.
"Man, who'd have thought out of us kids, you'd be the one with a growing record."
"Weston!" Mom slapped his shoulder.
"It's fine, when can I go?"
"We asked about bailing you out, but charges were pressed so you'll be held overnight till your hearing tomorrow." Mom explained while dad refused to look at me.
