💣MAVROS💣

After the trio followed Ver inside, I turned to see my ma trying to make a break for it. I grabbed her arm and pulled her back, causing her to stumble. She zeroed in on me with her mom-glare, but I kept hold of her arm. After a moment of staring, she finally stopped tugging and stood frozen as a statue.

"I'm sorry, son, but I didn't broadcast our ride."

"I don't know what to think. Did you deliberately do this, or were you just not mindful of who was around?"

"Why would you think I purposely allowed this to happen?"

"Damnit, ma, Ver just got our patch tatted! I know how much you want Verity to stay, but she can't. Maybe if you knew her story, you'd have been more careful. I guess it's my fault for choosing her loyalty over yours..."

"What do you mean, Mavros? All you and Verity have said is that she has to leave Idaho. What more could there be to her story?"

Forgive me Ver, but it's better the club knows. Maybe then they'll grant you some leniency...

I eyed the pack facing us while whispering and felt uneasy. I couldn't see how Ver would forgive me and could see the trio taking her side. I gulped and felt the urge to reach for my cell to phone West for his opinion. However, I took a deep breath in and out and squared my jaw.

"EVERYONE, LISTEN."

Everyone immediately quieted down and turned their attention on me. which, in turn, made me feel like a human surrounded by a zombie horde.

"The reason for Verity's visit is that she's running from her family and a rival mc."

As I broke off, everyone's features showed shock and confusion. One of the women raised her hand, and I cringed as this would be the start of an endless questionnaire.

THIRTY MINUTES LATER

"Now that you know Ver's story, I hope you'll understand why she can't be my old lady. Also that a church meeting is a must to vote on how to handle her release from that role."

I studied each person with every word, as I felt the urge to let my shoulders sag. I dug my nails into my palm and willed myself to keep my posture. As I was struggling, I noticed one of the older patchies raised his hand. My spirits instantly sunk as I was sure he'd be against giving Ver special treatment.

"Yes, Jeb?"

"When are you holding the meeting?"

"After super. Is that alright with everyone?"

I glanced towards my ma and saw she had raised an eyebrow at me. I shook my head slightly and faced the patchies.

"That was simple a curtesy invitation to our older patchies. Church is mandatory for all patch holders." I turned to my ma and nodded to her to leave with me. As I was half turned, a female voice stopped me.

"As a member, will Verity also be joining church?"

I sighed and turned back around. I caught eyes with the young female member who had kept her hand up. Shauna. I inwardly cringed, as this girl had repeatedly tried every method to become my old lady. By the look in her eyes, I could tell she wanted to cause strife. Which made me take a second to decipher what her agenda was in asking. As before, I was going to say no, but decided to do the opposite.
