🥾 AXTON 🥾
After Garr and I arrived home we stopped by the kitchen to hug and kiss the girls and ma. The three of them had aprons on and were elbow deep in cookie dough. Garr and grinned before going over and kissing their flour covered cheeks.
"DADDDDY!"
"PAPA-BEAAAAR! WE'RE MAKING CHOCA CHIP COOKIES!"
"Nice."
"Can't wait," Garr stuck his finger in the dough and licked his fingers.

"OWWW!" Garr snatched his hand back and covered it with his other one.
"Sorry hon, but you know better," ma scolded and wrapped her arms around both of us.
"I know, but it was worth it," he chuckled as he squeezed her.
"Naughty boy....Mmmmn you boys smell like coffee," ma deeply sniffed us as she held onto both of us.
"Sorry we couldn't bring you one, ma Vixen."
"That's okay hon, I prefer a cup from that cappuccino machine you boys bought me."
"We're glad you like it so much," I kissed her other cheek and let go of her.
"How was your decision with R-O-S-A-L-I-N-D-A?" Ma pulled away as she stared into my eyes.
"She'll stay until after your trip with Garr's parents, until then Garr and I are switching to a different room."
"You'll have to quickly replace her though. Things can't go back the way before she was hired, Axton," ma lowered her voice as she glanced at the twins.
"Don't worry ma, you, dad, and the patch-holders won't have to help out ever again."
"AXT-." Ma raised her voice as Garr placed his hand on my arm.
"I never should've leaned on any of you, after all the girls came from me. I gave ma a nod and kissed my girls before heading to my office.
I thought I was alone until I attempted to close my door and it wouldn't budge. I turned my head and saw Garr had a grip on the door and a blank expression. I let go and sat down in my chair leaving it up to him to enter or not.
"I've never heard you speak to your ma like that, Axton."
I was itching to snap at him, but I didn't want to attack him with my frustration. So I remained silent and turned away in my desk chair.
"You know your parents love the girls to pieces and don't see them as a burden. But like you and I need our privacy, so do yo- both our parents. Please sit down and talk with them before their trip. It's not a good for family to depart on a bad note. Alight?"
I was struck by how calm and collected Garr was being. As he's usually not gentle with me when I've snapped at my parents. I know I was in the wrong. Yet hurt by her possible lie earlier and implying I'd go back to taking advantage of their help. I honestly just want some time to reflect and to not feel presured to make peace.
