💄VERITY💄

"That meet cute is straight out of a romance novel. We're so happy that Mavros was there to help," Esmarie gushed as she rested her chin in her hand.

"I agree, but I doubt Ver really needed Mavros's help or from any man. No offense to, sweety, or you three," Rev winked at me and grinned at the four guys.

"I'm not offended, cause you're right. Ver is as capable as anyone I know," Mav's eyes glimmered with respect and I felt my heart flutter.

"Why did you need our Mavros's help, Verity?" Arika quietly asked with a kind smile.

"I-."

"You're not in danger are you, hon?" Rev placed a hand over mine as Mavros abruptly stood.

"Ma, quad, I'm gonna set up Ver in one of the guest rooms." He stared down at me and subtlly tilted his head to the kitchen doorway.

It seemed he was trying to save me, and I wondered why, as he doesn't know my full story. Yet that didn't mean I would pass on his kindness, so I stood.

"That would be nice, especially a shower, as I feel dirty though I had one this morning. Probably because I was staying at a seedy motel," I chuckled nervously.

"Oh how rude of us, go ahead kids," Rev brushed us with a flick of her palm and we quickly left.

We silently climbed a set of stairs and were half way up a second when Mav finally spoke.

"I'm sorry about the third degree. They meddle too much, but it's because they care. Sorry if it made you feel uncomfortable."

"I get it I'm a new boardgame everyone wants to figure out. I'm not offended at all," I knocked my shoulder against his as we climbed the last step.

"That's our mom quad, nothing WE do gets past them. Let alone a gorgeous girl we brought home."

"Thanks for the rescue then. I'd rather not tell your quad my story."

"I get it, so I bought you another day to make something up to 'em," I caught a conspiratorial lopsided grin as he turned the corner down the hall.

Huh, don't think I didn't notice you didn't include yourself in the explanation for his quad.... I don't see how he doesn't mind me lying to his mom and company.... Why would he allow someone who isn't telling him the whole story stay in his home?

"Wait..." I gripped his shirt and he paused before turning.

"Yeah?"

"Why are you okay with me lying to your mom and company and not demanding I explain myself?"

"The quad doesn't need to know your personal details. Secondly, I figured if you want any of us to know, you'll tell ME when you're ready," he looked at me as if his answer should've been obvious.

Why isn't he demanding answers like dad and the boys would? He also seems to think I'll want to tell him out of all of them. And he'd be right, as I can sense goodness and a gentleness in him....

"Okay. Thank you," I stepped forward and haulted, realizing I didn't know where the guest room was.

"Down the hall and on the left," he grinned as he stopped by my side.

"Huh?" I stared blankly up at his sculpted face.

"The guest bedroom, at least one of them. Or I guess it's yours now," he cutely fumbled.

I nodded and let him lead me down to my temporary room. Though half of me was starting to wish I could stay forever. As I could feel the aura surrounding this mc and people, are pure. Mavros opened the bedroom door and motioned for me to enter before he joined me. The bedroom was spacious with pastel blue walls. and white bedding over a queen sized bed. I walked further in, taking note of a bathroom, a closet, and a stuffed chair in a corner.

"Is the room okay?"

"It's really nic-"

"If you'd rather, I could show you the others if you don't like this one."

"No, no. This one's perfect and I love the color blue," I glanced at Mavros and saw he was genuinely concerned I might not like the room.

I didn't want to lie to him, but I gushed, though I didn't love the color scheme. However his smile silenced my guilty conscience and I couldn't help but smile back.

"GREAT, feel free to decorate the place."

"Thanks, but I definitely didn't bring enough things with me to decorate. Plus I'll only be here a week so it doesn't make sense to make it feel too homey." I gently tapped the toe of my boot on the wood as I clasped my hands behind my back.

"True... ugh, well I'll see you later. Have a pleasent stay," he shot me a grin before he walked out and shut the door.

That was adorable....his personality  doesn't live up to his patch name.... STOOOP! What's wrong with you? No guy is worth your freedom. Right?

💣 MAVROS 💣

Have a pleasent stay???? That was slick of you. SERIOUSLY. Are you a bellhop? Zeus you're the prez of a notable mc, and you've always been a smooth talker.

"It's gotta be her."

"Her? Who Verity?"

I turned and saw Jesse standing a foot away with his lips turned up in a rare smirk.

"Nothing. Not about Verity at least."
I did my best to look my best friend in the eyes.

"Who were you talkin' about then?"

"Ma, and the quad."

"Really, bro?" He tilted his head and gave me a look that mirrored our mom's.

"Yeah. They've taken a liking to Verity as if she's wounded bird we'll have to release when healed."

"Sureeee. They're the ones that are gonna get attached to Ver," he shook his head and entered his room.

Why would you choose to move towards the cliff, knowing you'll fall?

I touched my middle and index fingers to my forehead.

It'll hurt. The fall to her side.

I rubbed my chest over my heart.

Since when has pain ever stopped you, Mavros?

I shook myself and continued down stairs to my office to find something to distract my thoughts.
