BUDAPEST - THURSDAY

"I don't want to go." Cassie whispered, peering up at Lando from where she lie on his bare chest, clinging onto his muscled biceps. While Lando also did not want her to go, he knew it was essential. "But if you don't, our trainers are going to have a lot of questions." He smiled softly.

It was one of those weekends where the drivers would stay in their own rv's outside the track. Lando's was stationed far away from Cassie's. It would be a long walk. In the dark. And the cold. Cassie dreaded it.

Just thinking about it had her frowning deeply. "Why couldn't you make the walk to mine instead?" Lando rubbed her arm affectionately. "If I remember correctly, I was supposed to, but then you marched down here because I was 'taking too long'."

She rolled her eyes at him, turning her face away from his gaze. His arms only remained wrapped around her for a moment longer before she was forcing herself away. "Sun's coming up now." She regrettably informed him, gathering her belongings in a small bag.

A burst of selfishness had Lando changing his mind. He gripped her hand, and pulled her back into bed. She laughed out his name as her body collapsed on the mattress beside him. "Changed my mind. I don't care if they know." He muttered, lips hovering so close to hers.

A small hum vibrated her body. "Sucks. 'Cause I sure do." He sighed, and she broke away after a very short lived kiss. "Don't tell the media anything stupid today." She pointed an accusing finger at him from where she stood at the entrance.

Lando laid with his upper body propped up on his elbows behind him. "No promises." He flashed her a smile which held copious amounts of mischief.

"I'm serious, I'm not about to be labeled as the grid slut."

Lando's eyes widened. "Wow, quite vulgar."

She jumped to her own defense. "It's a real fear!" Lando laughed before she left the rv.

She made quick work of getting back to her own rv, practically running down the rows of driver's temporary housing.

Brina was sitting at the dining room table when Cassie walked in. The smile on Cassie's face was wiped away in an instant. "And where have you been?" Brina raised a brow, sounding a little bit too much like Cassie's late mother. The comparison had her falter on her feet, but she soon recovered.

A response only came when Cassie was sat across from Brina, laid comfortably across the cushions. "Out for a walk."  She lied casually.

Brina chuckled. "Right. A casual walk to Lando Norris's rv?" Cassie froze, her heart beating faster. "W-what?" She laughed nervously. Brina gave her a look, one that told her to be serious.

"Oh come on! You're terrible at sneaking around!" Cassie sunk deeper in her seat while Brina inched forward. "So, how long have you been dating?" Brina wiggled her brows, desperate to hear the drama unfold.

A scoff was Cassie's initial response. "We- it's not-" she scoffed again. "We aren't dating." The slightly pitched up tone of her voice, along with the dramatic flush in her cheeks gave her away in an instant.

Brina let out a singular, very loud laugh. "That is a terrible lie!"

Cassie's mind ran away from her. Brina knew. That opened the door for more people to know, and for the truth to become public information. And if the truth was public information, then she was susceptible for judgement. And Cassie knew what people would think. Cassie knew that going public would bring irreversible.
