Happy very early birthday, ApeculiarChild2. I finished this super early and didn't want to wait to post it, so you get it now ;). Enjoy!
Texas was pissed. That wasn't unusual for him, as the state had a short temper that was always set off by the smallest of things. However, this time it was not the antics of his siblings that had him pissed, no.
It was the actions of his father's adoptive sister, the savage known as Hawaiʻi.
His father had taken Hawaiʻi in so he could protect her and bring their family closer together. He also admitted that part of the reason was that he hated seeing Hawaiʻi, whom he claimed was as civilized as any white nation, be held back by a population of savages.
Texas wondered now if his father's claims of Hawaiʻi being civilized were even true or if he was just blinded by the love he had for her.
Because no civilized nation would do what she had done.
No civilized nation burns another nation that badly simply for not wanting to be her friend. It was clear to Texas that Hawaiʻi was just as much a savage as the rest of her people. And he would not let her get away with hurting his brother like that.
No one got away with hurting Texas' family.
"What did I say? What did I say!?" Texas yelled as he marched towards Hawaiʻi's room, anger flooding his body. How dare she do this! How dare she hurt Alaska's brother after everything his father did for her!
Texas threw the door open and saw Hawaiʻi there.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" He spat.
"There's a door, and I had hoped you would have the basic civility of knocking. Now piss off. Your father wants me to have nothing to do with you or your siblings." Hawaiʻi said, wrapping her wings around herself. "He doesn't care if I'm sorry."
Texas felt anger run through him. How dare this savage act like she's sorry? She hurt his brother after being so hateful towards his father and everyone else in the family and expects Texas to think that she's sorry.
"I don't think you are. You hurt Lasky for what? Because you're savage? Because it feeds some twisted part of you?" Texas asked, hoping to get a straight answer out of her, a reason as to why she would hurt his family.
"I am not a savage, and you just should fuck off, kid!" Hawaiʻi yelled. Kid? Texas wasn't a child! And like hell was he going to fuck off after what Hawaiʻi had done to his brother.
"You prove that you are!" Texas responded. How dare the savage try to claim she wasn't when she attacked his brother for no reason, showing herself to be a terrible person who does not care for those who try to help her. She attacked Alaska and then called him a friend.
Only a savage could be so delusional.
"Leave me the hell alone. It was an accident!" Hawaiʻi said, pushing Texas hard. "Fuck off before I do something I regret!"
Texas gritted his teeth and straightened his back as he prepared to fight the savage before questioning, "Like burning Alaska?"
"I said that was an accident! Is your brain too small to understand that?" Hawaiʻi said. Texas then quickly punched her in the face for that comment. How dare the savage imply that he had a small brain when he was white! Hawaiʻi then laughed, and Texas felt his anger grow.
"Waiting a long time for that one, have you?"
"Honestly, yes," he replied, getting into a boxing stance.
"Think you can do better than that?" Hawaiʻi then spat out blood before looking back up at Texas before smiling and holding up her hands. "Try again. This time, don't hit like a little girl. Unless that was your best shot, kid ."
Rage flooding through him, Texas tackled her, knocking her head into a wall. Hawaiʻi kicked Texas off of her and slowly forced him to the ground.
Christ Almighty, why was this savage so strong? She was a woman, a savage, and a good foot shorter than Texas. He should be beating her easily!
But the worst part was her grip. It was hot, like touching a hot surface or holding your hand over a fire. Not enough to burn, but enough to redden the skin and make oneself incredibly uncomfortable.
Hawaiʻi then pushed Texas' arms behind his back, only letting go when one of them dislocated with a loud pop. Texas screamed in pain. The pain blinded him for a moment as Texas bit his tongue, forcing down tears.
"The fight is over, Kid. Stay down." Hawaiʻi said.
"Not until I say it's over," Texas said, lunging at the violent savage. But Hawaiʻi moved out of the way before jumping onto his back, her fingers tangling in his hair as she yanked his head back.
"Why can't you stay down?" Hawaiʻi screamed before slamming Texas's face into the ground, causing an explosion of pain in his head as he lay there, dazed. Hawaiʻi then got off him, and Texas heard her arguing with someone else, although the pain in his head made it hard to identify them.
Texas' head was fuzzy, and his vision was blurry. He groaned in pain as he finally was able to string enough of his foggy thoughts together, recognizing the other voice to be his father's.
"Texas?" Father asked, but his voice echoed, coming out of Hawaiʻi's mouth as well as his own.
"Head hurts." Texas forced out as his father sat beside him. His father ran a hand through Texas' hair before helping the state up as Texas tried his best to stand through the dizziness.
"It's okay, Texas. We'll get you to Minnesota, and then I'll take care of Hawaii." Father said, his voice still holding the same strange echo. Texas nodded, leaning against his father for balance, throwing his good arm over his father's shoulders as they left the savage's room.
"Why did you try and fight her?" Father asked, his voice lacking the echo now that they had left Hawaiʻi behind.
"She hurt Laska," Texas mumbled.
"And here I thought you didn't like Alaska," Father said teasingly. Texas grunted.
"Still family. And no one hurts my family and gets away with it."
Father pressed a brief kiss to Texas' aching head.
"Thank you, Texas." he said, "It's good to know that all my children have someone as brave as you looking after them."
"Still lost," Texas muttered. He lost to a tiny female savage. It was embarrassing.
"You tried. And I'm sure Alaska will appreciate it either way. But next time, please don't throw yourself into a fight without understanding who you're fighting. Hawaii may be a savage, but she's a strong one."
"Thought you say she ain't savage?"
"She's proven me wrong by doing this. Injuring my children is not an insult I take lightly." Father said, his voice dark. Texas smiled.
"Well least ya see it now," he said, leaning more on his father, who sighed.
"Yes, I do. And it's very disappointing to see. But that'll change. She's one of us now for a reason. It's our job to civilize her and the rest of her people. Try not to attack her anymore. You only run the risk of turning her further away from civilized life by feeding into those terrible instincts." Father said. Texas nodded, head hurting too much to say anymore.
Fighting the savage had been a way worse idea than he thought.
But at least his father would take care of things from here.
