"It seems like we shouldn't proceed further into the forest." Lisa was also thinking over this matter. "The mist around the forest ahead hasn't dissipated despite the hot sun. It seems like this isn't a regular mist. It contains poison. This person must have died from inhaling the poisonous mist."

Jennie scanned their surroundings. "In that case, perhaps we should head to the other side of the island. There may be inhabitants there."

Lisa nodded. "This is someone who lived on the island. Even a 'local' died. We can't take the risk of breathing in the mist." He deliberated over it. "We can make a raft from bamboo and travel along the outskirts of the island for a look."

"En." Jennie agreed.

"We'll have to cut a lot of bamboo then." Lisa glanced at the hatchet neary the corpse. He instructed Jennie. "My wife, take a few steps back. I'll go retrieve the hatchet."

There was no need for the basket. They had one themselves.

Jennie took a few steps back and reminded him. "Hubby, you have to be careful."

He nodded and picked up a tree branch with a lot of leaves on it. He slowly and quietly approached the corpse, using the branch to wave away any insects that flew near him.

Once he got close enough, he bent down to pick up the hatchet.

His movements appeared to startle the insects on the corpse.

The crowd of poisonous worms on the corpse began to wriggle frantically, while the flies swarmed upwards into a thick, black mist.

Thankfully, the hatchet was around half a meter away from the corpse. Lisa moved quickly and backed away rapidly after picking the hatchet up. Although some insects flew towards him, they were easily waved away. He was not bitten.

Jennie and Lisa began to head backwards. They had only traveled around a hundred meters when they heard hissing noises.

This sound was too familiar... It belonged to a snake.

Furthermore, it sounded like there was a large group of snakes.

Her scalp began to prickle in discomfort. Although she had special abilities and it had been easy for her to kill those sea snakes on the beach, in the thick forest, it was difficult for her to see ahead.

The snakes were hidden in the forest and were especially difficult to find.

If the snakes were in the bushes, she was afraid that by killing one, it would startle the rest into attacking them.

Thus, they both fell silent and sharpened their ears to locate the snakes.

They noticed that a bush ahead was shifting back and forth. The grass around the area was also rustling.

Several snakes with sharp heads and brown and yellow patches were crawling on the ground.

My god, these were venomous snakes.

In this environment, they could not consider these snakes as food. It was more important that they escape to protect their lives.

Lisa and Jennie immediately headed in the other direction. They had only taken a few steps when they noticed that the grass ahead was rustling.

They scanned their surroundings and realized that there were movements all around them.

They exchanged a glance. Unfortunately, it seemed like they were thoroughly surrounded by the venomous snakes!

"Hubby, what do we do?" Jennie's complexion was pale.

Lisa's expression was heavy. He wrapped one arm around her tightly and held the hatchet with his other hand. "My wife, I will protect you."

"Let's climb up the tree." Jennie got ready to climb onto the tree. However, she lifted her head to see that there were a lot of snakes, around the thickness of her wrist, wrapped around the tree branches.

Furthermore, around three meters above them, a snake was hung on a tree branch. It seemed to have discovered them and it slowly stretched its head towards them. It felt like it would fall off the tree any second.

My god, it was as if these snakes were declaring war on them.

The two of them stood with their backs pressed against each other. More and more snakes appeared to be crowding around them.. The snake above their head was also about to fall upon them.
