Yi Mo realized that she was serious and immediately turned pale from fright. "Stop!"

The villagers watched as their village head was being threatened and could only come to an abrupt halt.

"You, tell the villagers that he didn't kill Nuo!" Jennie's words were directed at He La.

But He La hesitated. Yi Mo also seemed to want to stop her.

Jennie pressed the hatchet deeper. "Tell He La to clarify the matter!"

"Explain!" The sharp pain left Yi Mo feeling as if he would lose his head any moment. He could not pause to consider anything else.

He La helplessly began to explain the matter to the villagers in their local language. She told them that this man did not kill Nuo. He had only picked up Nuo's hatchet.

Nuo had died in the forest due to the poisonous fog. He had likely suffocated to the death.

The villagers slowly calmed down.

Many of them turned to look at their village head in confusion. They then glanced at Lisa and spoke incomprehensibly to He La.

Jennie could guess what they were saying. "Tell them that your village head intentionally framed him to obtain me!"

He La did not wish to do so. Wouldn't she be thoroughly offending her village head by doing this?

If the village head managed to escape unscathed, she would be doomed.

Just as she was hesitating, Jennie addressed her worries in English. "Don't worry. Your village head is doomed to die."

A muscular man suddenly said something to He La.

He La immediately raised her voice. "Yi Mo has lost his mind! In order to obtain the new woman, he framed that man! Once that man dies, the woman will be his!"

"He La, you've gone mad!" Yi Mo was in shock.

With her words, everyone would lose their faith in him as the village head!

Jennie said mockingly to Yi Mo, "You fool. Can't you tell? There is another capable man in this village who wishes to replace you. Since you asked for it, I shall grant his wish."

When He La heard this, she translated Jennie's words in their local language for him.

The man shot Jennie a smile in gratitude.

"We need to leave this place. Prepare your best boat for us!" Jennie did not wish to stay in this horrid place for a second longer.

Lisa had planned on stealing a boat to leave.

There was no harm in snatching one right now.

All the men here stared at her with hungry eyes. The women's gaze was also heated as they watched Lisa.

If they stayed here any longer, more trouble would follow the two of them.

It was safer to leave the place as soon as possible.

"Yi Mo's boat is the biggest. It's the one in the center." He La pointed to the boat attached to the largest house. Although it appeared bigger than the rest, it was still a simple boat in the shape of a leaf.

Lisa spoke to Jennie. "Jennie, let's go to Yi Mo's boat."

She nodded lightly and kept the hatchet against Yi Mo's neck, following his instructions.

Lisa first shifted all the things kept on their wooden raft onto that boat.

Most of the people here kept their boats attached to the pillars that made up the foundation of their home.

Lisa searched Yi Mo's home and found two raincoats. He also found two baskets of dried meat and a basket of fresh fruits and vegetables.

There was also a plastic water tank. It was filled to the brim with pure water.

Previously, He La had informed them that there was a stream of water that flowed from the mountains near their village. Everyone obtained their drinking water from there..
