At the thought that Jennie could have been poisoned or burned to death, the pain in his heart left him struggling to breathe.
For the past one day and a half, the worry had been driving him insane.
He had felt the urge to charge into the fire and die with Jennie countless times.
However, he also knew that she was a strong girl. She had battled a shark in the ocean and taken good care of him even when they were on an uninhabited island.
She was such a capable, wonderful girl. How could she die just like that?
If she happened to still be alive, wouldn't he lose all hope of seeing her again if he killed himself?
Thus, he reminded himself in pain that he needed to see her! Even if she was dead, he needed to personally see her corpse!
However, his rational side told him that the fire had burned furiously for a day and a half. It was likely that even corpses wouldn't be recognizable after that.
Still, he could not let go of his hope of a miracle!
Despite his usual cold, firm and unshakeable countenance, as he sat in the backseat of the helicopters with a pair of binoculars, he found that his hands were trembling.
He scanned the lake far away with the binoculars and saw that it was completely surrounded by flames. Right in the center of the lake, Jennie and Mark were holding onto a thick, burnt tree trunk.
When he recognised their figures, he became extremely agitated. "Quick, land there!"
The pilot responded while trembling. "Boss, though the fire has weakened, and there are areas where it has been completely extinguished, the temperature on land is still too high. The helicopter won't be able to descend here."
"Lower the helicopter above the lake." He instructed.
"Yes, Sir." The helicopter headed for the enormous lake and descended before coming to a stop in mid-air.
Jennie lifted her head and watched the helicopter door suddenly open. A figure jumped into the lake, landing several meters away from them.
She blinked and realized that it was Lisa. To think that he would immediately jump in to see her. She was deeply moved.
In the next instant, he had swum over and crushed her into his arms. His tight embrace left her body aching.
"Jennie... Nini!" Lisa was deeply moved. It had been a day and a half since he got any rest and his eyes had reddened from his emotions.
He kissed her lips, her hair, her nose and her lips repeatedly...
Thank god she was alive, thank god she was alive!
Upon confirming that she was here, his joy sent him... into tears.
Jennie was shocked to see him crying in joy and pain.
She returned his embrace tightly and whispered. "Hubby, I'm still alive..."
"My wife, my wife!" He dearly wished that he could press her into one being with him.
Both of them began to sink with the way they were embracing.
Lisa had no choice but to move one hand to grip onto the tree trunk. He held them up and kept their shoulders floating above water.
Mark was also moved as he watched them embrace.
His feelings were rather complicated and a little sour.
This was because he also had some feelings for Jennie.
However, he did not plan on conveying these feelings to her ever.
If it hadn't been for her, he would most likely have been poisoned or burned to death. He could even have drowned in the lake.
Hence, he would offer all his blessings to her.
He was certain she would be happy with his boss.
Mark spoke up hoarsely. "Boss, this subordinate is also alive. Why won't you embrace him?"
Lisa did not even pause to look at him. All his attention was fixed on Jennie.
He hoped that he would never have to separate from her again, or face the possibility of losing her ever again!
Two lifeboats were tossed down from the helicopter.. A long rope ladder hanging from the helicopter was also released.
