C17:Detention and Hospital Prayer

Mikayla's POV

The last bell rang marking the end of a painful and tiring day. The second it rang I rushed out to call Daniel but was stopped by a rough hand.

"Where do you think you're going, missy?" An annoying voice that no doubt belonged to Tony Blair said. I forgot I had detention.

"I was just out to make a call. I need to find out how Andrew is and if his brother is okay." I said causing Tony to yawn sarcastically at my face.

"No time for excuses, Mikayla. You are going to detention right now." He said reaching out to pull my arm again but I dodged right on time.

"Wait! Ok, can I atleast inform my mother I'll be a little late than usual so that she doesn't worry." He seemed to consider it and grunted.

"Fine. Call your mother and go straight to detention." He said and thank God he was called by Samantha, another prefect giving me time to call Daniel before detention.

I called my mom and told her I would be a little late and promised to explain the rest when I reached home. She didn't mind, but I didn't miss the tone of curiosity in her voice.

I called Daniel and the phone rang with no response sending me directly to his voicemail. I tried again and he answered.

"Hey." I said.

"Hi, Mikayla. How are you?" He answered. God, I was so relieved to hear his voice.

"Well, I'm fine now that I've heard your voice. You're okay? Right, tell me you're okay." I said nervously.

"Yep. I'm okay thank you and Eli is okay too. It's just a few injuries but he'll be okay." He answered. "Thank you so much, Kayla. For what you did today. After calming down it all came back; you stood up for me, helped me in front of people and weren't ashamed to stand by me. Thank-" He said.

"Shh. There's no need to thank me. I didn't do it for you." I said imagining him pouting.

"Really? Then who did you do it for then, Kayla?" He asked.

"I did it for God's kingdom. Spreading joy and kindness as well as helping others is all for the kingdom." I said trying not to laugh. I wasn't lying on the God's kingdom part. I helped him because that's what Jesus wants us to do. He says it so Himself in John 15:17. Where Jesus says that we must love one another. But I knew that there was another reason

"Hmm. That's nice discipleship and I'm even more grateful that I was a recipient of it." He said.

"I also did it because-" I began, a little shy to say it out loud.

"-Yes?" He asked expectant.

"Because I love you, Daniel. You've been fighting for me since day one. From Sarah, Trixie, your dad and everyone else who stood against me, including yourself at times. So I believe this was my turn." I said letting it all out.

He chuckled lowly, "I love you too, my star. Can I call you later, the nurse is about to tell me if Eli can come home. Oh, and I had forgot to text you the details for church tonight. That's if you still wanna come?" He said.
