Mikayla's POV
I had called Daniel immediately after being released from jail, as Fiona had termed it. I really enjoyed spending time with them in a way. They were outgoing yet reserved. They weren't loud but they were quiet either.
Ambiverts with ambition in who they were. I was mostly intrigued by their interest in knowing about God.
Long ago, I had taught myself that in this world people often termed others in two. Christians and Sinners. I say others because I really think that those who created the statement were somehow biased. In my opinion there were good Christians, bad Christians and Sinners.
This is because we have Christians that do bad things, Christians whom the Bible labels as lukewarm and according to God are similar to heathens. While we have people with no religion who do good things. They need direction and guidance not rebuking because no one was born a believer.
People have a tendency of wanting to throw the latter out of the gospel which is a loss for the kingdom of God because in reality these have the potential and are labeled as fertile soil. Fertile ground in which the gospel can be planted and received.
In my lense of life, God created us all. Instead of creating boundaries between us, God gave us the common ground to get along and build each other which is the gospel. The gospel saves all who receive it.
Christians are those who received it and who receive it everyday. Sinners are those with the potential to receive it. Those waiting for one who is saved to give it to them. No one was born a believer and so once the gospel has found its way in your ground, it was then ones responsibility to plant it in others ground. Seed dispersal, if I really must use biology to exercise my point.
After what felt like a long drive, we got to Tilda's Sweetness and all of a sudden I felt it. My palms were sweaty, heart beating in my chest and my breath shaking. What if Elijah didn't like me?
I was a little nervous to meet Daniel's brother and I think Daniel saw it because he placed his hand on mine and squeezed lightly.
"Are you okay, Kayla?" He asked and I hesitantly nodded. Not buying it, he tilted his head and I sighed, "I'm a little anxious. What if your brother doesn't like me? What if he thinks I'm weird or crazy?" I whispered, my throat dry. Mikayla, if you were this nervous now, how would you handle meeting his dad?
He chuckled, "You have nothing to worry about. He'll love you, just like I do. Mikayla," he began taking my hand in his and intertwining them, "I'm right here. Right here."
She inhaled and exhaled, regulating her breathing, "You're right. What am I getting worked up for? I'll be fine. You're right here." I said strengthening the hold on our hands.
He smiled, "I'm right here."
After a short prayer, we got out of the car and went into the shop. Sitting at a booth at the far end of Tilda's shop was a blonde haired gentleman sitting by himself going through his tablet with his eyebrows knitted together.
He was adorned in a black suit, his blazer hanged on the couch of the booth. I evened out my breathing as Daniel walked out towards his brother. As we sat down, we realised he was talking.
"Cóng zhōu wǔ kāishǐ wǒ jiàng zài xīyǎtú, zhízhì lìngxíng tōngzhī. Wǒ xiāngxìn, dāng nǐ guòlái shí, wǒmen jiù néng zài nàlǐ wánchéng jiāoyì. Xiànzài shì wǒmen yǐ zhèngquè de fāngshì jiànlì zhè yīdiǎn de shíhòule. Guòqù de jiù ràng tā guòqù ba. Lǐ xiānshēng nín bù zhème rènwéi ma? (I'll be in Seattle from Friday and until further notice. I believe that when you come by, we'll be able to finish the deal there. It's about time we established this the right way. Let bygones be bygones and start anew. Don't you think, Mr Lee?)"
