Mikayla's POV

He kissed me! Daniel kissed me again. I didn't know what to say or how to react. As I was kissing him, a lot of thoughts were circling my mind.

God,I really loved this boy. I know it seemed too early, but is this who You had taken the rib from which you made me from? Oh, God help me.

I broke the kiss as I was feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. This was so overwhelming but in a nice way. He managed to respond to my words with just a kiss. All those words I said and with just a kiss it felt like I said nothing at all. I told him I loved him yes, but he showed me that he loved me.

"Hey hey." My sister Millicent said from the kitchen.

"Hi, sis. How are you?" I said walking into the kitchen.

"I'm exhausted." She said mixing her beef stew.

"Mhh. What smells nice in here?" I said reaching out to taste her curry. She hit my hand.

"What do you think you're doing? Thanks to you, I had to cook today. Why are you late?" She asked holding her hip.

"Well, I had detention today." I said and she rolled her eyes. Then she coughed. "Are you serious?" What is it with everyone thinking I'm lying about this. I'm serious. Who am I kidding, I'm Mikayla Mendez. I never do detention, well...... until now.

"I'm serious. It's a long story I prefer telling you over dinner." I said smiling.

She rolled her eyes. "Well, take out the plates and prepare the dining table." She said.

"I'm done!" I said finally placing the last cup and taking out the lemonade.

"Kk, let me go wake mom up." She said ascending on the stairs.

I hummed and placed everything on the table. The one time my sister cooks something good, I'm famished with Tilda's Sweetness. I smiled reminiscing on the late afternoon date. I think it was a date, I think.
Daniel's warm tears on my hands. I want to be comfortable. I want to trust you. I was in love with this boy, Daniel Johnson.

We sat down and dished up. "Honey, may you say grace?" My mom said.

"May the Lord God bless our food and the hands that made it, Amen." I said. "Amen."

We ate and made little conversations with laughter here and there. "Mikayla, dear. Why were you late, today?" My mother asked catching my father's attention.

I wiped my mouth, "Uhm, I was in detention, mom." I said causing my mom to choke on her food and my father's spoon to stop mid air.

"What?!" My father said. "Yes, I was given detention for three days for allowing students to leave school before receiving a pass out." I said taking light sips of my lemonade.

My father looked at me, "Well, why would you do that, Kayla?" My mother asked.

"Because, the student, Daniel had received a call from the hospital. His brother was in a car accident. He was having nervous fits, and just couldn't breathe properly." I explained.

"That sounds reasonable. So why were you given detention?" My father asked.

"Well, the principle didn't support my desicion of abruptly letting them leave. It was a crucial situation and so I delivered a crucial desicion." They nodded their heads in understanding.

"Do you think I took the wrong decision?" I asked them.

"Well, honey. It wasn't a good decision and it also wasn't a bad one either. That's what leadership is about. At times, you'll take decisions out of instinct and they won't be accepted by the book. I'm just proud of you for thinking like yourself." My father said making me smile.
