|Will You Be Mine?|
Another day goes by, and my father has not been seen or heard from. I am not sure what is going on with him, but I am concerned. As annoying as my father is, the last thing I need is for him to go missing. He never stayed long, but he did make an effort to check on me. That is the least I could say about him.
As I sat in the family room, my eyes were fixed on my phone, hoping to see those three dots that indicated he was typing back to me. He had a lot of information to learn. Most of it is about Noel having Mom's phone. Perhaps if he knew that, he would be less eager to work with him. Then again, this is the man who thought having Noel Blackman was more important than anything to do with my mother. That does not mean I should not warn him.
There is also the option of texting Jake. I would like to apologize for coming across as rude at school yesterday. He has recently been nothing but nice to me, and I responded with a big fuck you. It was not fair, and I admit I could have handled the situation better. Ace was the one who told me about their history, and I was not as mad at him for it. There was no reason for such hostility, but it could not be changed.
Fortunately, I could count on Ace to brighten my days. He entered the family room with a big smile on his face. It was almost 7 p.m., and he was as excited as ever. Looking at him gives me an unexplainable sense of happiness. Ace rarely came to me looking so happy, but stranger things have happened.
He sat down, looking at me with those hazel eyes. "Hey Reign, how are you?" He inquired.
I sighed and placed my phone on the coffee table. "Could be better," I acknowledged. "What's got you so lively tonight?"
His smile widened as he continued to hold my gaze. "Well, if you must know, I have a surprise for you," he said, beaming.
My eyes grew larger. "A surprise?" I inquired with curiosity. "For me?"
Ace never mentioned having a surprise for me. This came out of nowhere, but I can not deny that it excited me. His being dressed up should have altered me to his plans. However, I am just glad he is starting to think about me again. His sweet gestures would not go unnoticed.
He chuckled and grabbed my hands, helping me stand up. "Yes, for you, now come on," he replied.
I laughed as I followed behind him. My mind wondered what he meant by "surprise." We could not do much because of the tight restrictions imposed on me. Ace had never officially asked me out, so it seemed strange that he came up with something. However, given Ace's background, this should come as no surprise.
As we approached the room he was staying in, the smile on his face could not be ignored. I have never seen him so happy. We have not argued about anything today, which is unusual for us, but this explains his upbeat mood. He had put a lot of thought into his surprise, and I could not wait to see it.
"Okay, I know this will not be perfect, but I hope you still enjoy it," he said nervously.
I smiled, assuring him that I would appreciate anything he did for me. "First you did not start shit with me all day, and now this? I believe I am due to express my gratitude."
He rolled his eyes then smirked. "First of all, you are the shit starter," he said, pointing at me. "Now close your eyes."
I sighed and did as he said. His hand gripped mine as I heard him open the door. He slowly led me into the room before closing the door behind him. My eyes remained shut, waiting for him to give me his approval. The scent suggested that candles were burning, with light music playing in the background. I am still not sure what he was planning, but my heart pounded with anticipation.
