|The Plan|

Reign's POV

It took a whole day, but Ace came back just like he said he would. It was pretty late at night, but the crew he brought explained the reason. If Noel got wind of any of this, he'd stop at nothing to make sure we didn't make it out alive. Thankfully, Ace had a plan ready to go. Soon, this nightmare would finally be done.

I felt a rush of happiness when I heard the door click open. The first person to walk in instantly lifted my spirits since it had been way too long since I last saw her. Tana hugged me tight, and I could tell she missed me just as much. She must have been worried sick since I didn't answer her texts or calls. It felt amazing to see someone familiar, someone who wasn't hiding stuff from me or plotting against my family.

We stayed wrapped up in each other's arms for what felt like ages. This was my best friend—life has been pretty dull without her around.

"Don't you ever scare me like that again," she said, sounding worried. "I seriously thought you were dead."

I laughed, slightly pulling away from her. "Come on, you know I would never give up so easily," I smirked. "Though this is the most I have had a gun pointed at me."

"Shut up!" She seethed, "I hope I can get my hands on him."

Her protective nature never failed to amaze me, but I didn't need Tana putting her life in danger like that. Seeing her face tonight filled me with hope, but that didn't explain Ace's plan. Bringing Tana here wasn't a wise decision, though it did make me happy.

So, without sounding as if I didn't want her here, I had to question her. "Tana, why are you here? Why did Ace bring you?" My voice softened.

She smiled at me. "I'm sure you are well aware of Ace's plans," she whispered.

"I mean, kinda. He didn't go over the specifics," I admitted.

"That's why we're here." Her shoulders shrugged.

What? "Um, who else is a part of this?" I wondered.

That was when the door opened a little more, revealing Jake Trubisky with his smug little face. My heart was torn seeing him this way. On the one hand, I felt silly for not listening to him. He warned me, but I ignored him. The other part of me wanted to yell at him because he hadn't come to get me sooner.

I was emotional, but that didn't stop me from running up to him. I jumped into his arms and wrapped my legs around his torso. He caught me with a grunt and was surprised by my reaction. To be honest, it surprised me as well, because I wouldn't normally hug him this way. Jake had worked hard to change his behavior, and I wasn't a good person to judge him based solely on his name.

My hands stroked his blonde hair as tears welled up in my eyes. I'm sure I was soaking his shoulder, but he didn't seem to mind. Our relationship was complicated, but before I got into this situation, we were getting closer. He was someone I could trust, and I would never judge him again.

"I'm sorry, Jake," I said, squeezing him tighter. "I should have listened."

He chuckled as he squeezed back. "You are a stupid girl. You know that?" He teased me. "See what you got yourself into."

My teary eyes met his as he continued to hold me up. "But you came to help me, right?" I smiled gently.

"I couldn't let you die now, could I?" His smirk softened as he let me down.

Tana giggled. "It's good to see you have finally put your differences aside," she said, folding her arms.

"We just have a better understanding," I said as I wrapped my arms around his torso again.
